: The effect of the blood flow restriction technique (BFR) on delayed onset muscular soreness (DOMS) symptoms remains unclear. Since there is no consensus in the literature, the aim of the present study is to systematically identify and appraise the available evidence on the effects of the BFR technique on DOMS, in healthy subjects. : Computerized literature search in the databases Pubmed, Google Scholar, EBSCO, Cochrane and PEDro to identify randomized controlled trials that assessed the effects of blood flow restriction on delayed onset muscular soreness symptoms. : Eight trials met the eligibility criteria and were included in this review, presenting the results of 118 participants, with a mean methodological rating of 6/10 on the PEDro scale. : So far, there is not enough evidence to confirm or refute the influence of BFR on DOMS, and more studies with a good methodological basis are needed, in larger samples, to establish protocols and parameters of exercise and intervention. Data analysis suggests a tendency toward the proinflammatory effect of BFR during high restrictive pressures combined with eccentric exercises, while postconditioning BFR seems to have a protective effect on DOMS. Mass spectrometry (MS) is an emerging tool in multiple myeloma that detects and quantifies monoclonal proteins in the peripheral blood with sensitivity several orders of magnitude greater than conventional serum protein electrophoresis and immunofixation. Both intact light chain (top-down) and clonotypic peptide (bottom-up) MS approaches have demonstrated sensitivity comparable to-or even surpassing-BM-based assessments using next generation flow cytometry or sequencing. However, due to the delayed clearance of paraproteins, MS may be less informative for early response assessment, underscoring the need to define the optimal timing for evaluation.

Furthermore, with the ever-increasing prevalence and burden cardiovascular disease (CVD) places on individuals and society at large, it deems essential to cultivate robust and validated model for investigation. Our group utilizes a two-surgery protocol in a swine model that has been progressively refined over the last twenty years, in which we first induce chronic myocardial ischemia by placement of an ameroid constrictor mimicking the pathophysiology of coronary artery disease (CAD) in humans.
