PRDX3 promotes nasopharyngeal carcinoma tumor growth by regulating PINK1/Parkin pathway-dependent lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a challenging malignancy characterized by aggressive progression and limited therapeutic efficacy. Emerging evidence implicates peroxiredoxin 3 (PRDX3), a mitochondrial peroxidase, as a critical regulator of redox homeostasis and mitochondrial integrity. Given its role in modulating cell death through mitochondrial quality control, we investigated the therapeutic potential of targeting PRDX3 in NPC.

Failure of efficient cardiac proteostatic adaptations to chronic cAMP-stress is associated with accelerated heart aging.

Dysregulated proteostasis is a hallmark of aging. We investigated how efficiently proteostatic adaptations to chronic cardiac cyclic-adenosine-monophosphate (cAMP)-dependent stress change with aging in mice harboring marked cardiac-specific over-expression of adenylyl cyclase VIII (TG). We assessed protein quality control mechanisms (PQC) (ubiquitin proteasome system, autophagic flux via macroautophagy, and mitophagy) in left ventricles of TG and wild-type littermates (WT) at 3-4 and 17-21 months of age.

To evaluate the effects and underlying mechanisms of metabolites derived from the kidney-reinforcing, blood circulation-activating, and collateral dredging decoction on the proliferation of multiple myeloma (MM) KM3 cells. MM KM3 cells in the logarithmic growth phase were treated with 3%, 6%, 9%, or 12% metabolites of kidney-reinforcing, blood circulation-activating, and collateral dredging decoction. Cell viability was assessed using the CCK-8 assay.

Background: The prevailing treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) is not yet satisfactory. The present investigate the neuroprotective effect of the GLP-1/GIP dual agonist tirzepatide and examine the potential mechanisms involved.

Methods: Analysis of GLP1 receptor (GLP1R) and GIPR expression alterations in dopaminergic neurons from PD patients in the GSE238129 dataset.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma are characterised by increased oxidative stress in the lungs. The precise contribution of this stress to COPD aetiology remains unclear, partly due to the confounding influence of physiological ageing. Previous reports of increased oxidative stress in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples from individuals with COPD may at least in part be attributable to the subjects' age.
