Objectives: The Papua New Guinea (PNG) Health Department retrospectively reported six cases of Zika virus (ZIKV) from a cohort of febrile patients during outbreaks of dengue and malaria in 2016. However, the transmission of ZIKV remains unclear due to lack of testing capability. This study aimed to determine the level of immunity to ZIKV among PNG military personnel (PNGMP) in 2019.
Methods: Sera of 208 PNGMP recruited in April 2019 was tested for the presence of anti-ZIKV immunoglobulin G (IgG) and M (IgM) antibodies using Euroimmun IgG/IgM detection kits, and anti-ZIKV neutralizing antibody (Nab) against a ZIKV African strain on all anti-ZIKV-IgG/IgM samples.
Results: Anti-ZIKV seropositivity of these sera was as follows: IgG, 67%; IgM, 9%; and Nab, 65%. Five of 19 anti-ZIKV-IgM samples had anti-ZIKV-Nab titres ≥20, as well as an anti-ZIKV-Nab titre ratio ≥4 compared with the Nab titres of four anti-dengue serotypes, so met the criteria of the World Health Organization (WHO) for confirmed ZIKV infection.
Conclusions: The prevalence of anti-ZIKV-Nab of 65% suggests that there are high levels of ZIKV exposure among PNGMP. Five of the 19 anti-ZIKV-IgM samples met the WHO criteria for confirmed ZIKV infection, suggesting a recent undetected outbreak in PNGMP. These results provide better understanding of the current ZIKV epidemic status in PNGMP.

The low dose dexamethasone stimulation test (LDDST) is routinely used in canine medicine but in the few cases in guinea pigs diagnosed with hypercortisolism, the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) stimulation test was used. The objective of the authors was to conduct a pilot study and find out if the standard test used in dogs can be used in this species.A 4-year-old intact female hairless guinea pig showed bilaterally enlarged adrenal glands and high cortisol levels.

Background: Digital media frequently contains positive portrayals of alcohol content, which has been shown to be associated with alcohol-related cognitions and behaviors. Because youth are heavy media consumers and have access to unsupervised, repeat viewing of media content on their personal mobile devices, it is critical to understand the frequency of encountering alcohol content in adolescents' daily lives and how adolescents engage with the content.
Objective: This paper outlines the study protocol for examining adolescents' exposure to alcohol-related content in digital media within their natural environments.

It is helpful for diagnostic purposes to improve our current knowledge of gut development and serum biochemistry in young piglets. This study investigated serum biochemistry, and gut site-specific patterns of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) and expression of genes related to barrier function, innate immune response, antioxidative status and sensing of fatty and bile acids in suckling and newly weaned piglets. The experiment consisted of two replicate batches with 10 litters each.

High-fat foods are decomposed into fatty acids during digestion and absorption, primarily occurring in the gastrointestinal tract, and numerous studies have indicated that long-term high-fat diets significantly increase the incidence of intestinal disorders. As a critical intestinal hormone, serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) is involved in regulating intestinal peristalsis, secretion, and visceral sensitivity. However, due to the lack of methods capable of reproducing intestinal mechanical activities and in situ monitoring of 5-HT levels, the influence of high-fat diets on intestinal 5-HT release remains unclear.

Importance: Previous studies have suggested that social participation helps prevent depression among older adults. However, evidence is lacking about whether the preventive benefits vary among individuals and who would benefit most.
Objective: To examine the sociodemographic, behavioral, and health-related heterogeneity in the association between social participation and depressive symptoms among older adults and to identify the individual characteristics among older adults expected to benefit the most from social participation.
