Purpose: This study aimed to analyse the impact of time from first physiological derangement (positive Vital Sign Score, VSS) to Medical Emergency Team (MET) activation on mortality in oncological versus non-oncological patients.
Methods: All in-hospital patients requiring a MET assessment were included. The primary outcome was 30-day mortality.

The development of advanced functional soft materials for applications in preserving food quality and detecting spoilage is in focus today. While various smart food packaging options are available, there are still challenges to be addressed due to several limitations of current food quality sensors, such as a lack of multifunctionality, use of potentially harmful synthetic sensing molecules or short shelf life of natural analogues. Herein, we present a dual-functional hydrogel-polymersome composite (HPC) system that integrates two complementary sensing functionalities into a single platform.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) drive metastasis, the leading cause of death in individuals with breast cancer. Due to their low abundance in the circulation, robust CTC expansion protocols are urgently needed to effectively study disease progression and therapy responses. Here we present the establishment of long-term CTC-derived organoids from female individuals with metastatic breast cancer.

Health messages are core building blocks of public health efforts. Neuroscientific measures offer insights into how target audiences receive health messages. To move towards real-world applications, however, challenges regarding costs, lab restraints, and slow data acquisition need to be addressed.

Lassa virus (LASV), an arenavirus endemic to West Africa, poses a significant public health threat due to its high pathogenicity and expanding geographic risk zone. LASV glycoprotein complex (GPC) is the only known target of neutralizing antibodies, but its inherent metastability and conformational flexibility have hindered the development of GPC-based vaccines. We employed a variant of AlphaFold2 (AF2), called subsampled AF2, to generate diverse structures of LASV GPC that capture an array of potential conformational states using MSA subsampling and dropout layers.
