The type-II terminated 1T-TaS_{2} surface of a three-dimensional 1T-TaS_{2} bulk material realizes the effective spin-1/2 degree of freedom on each David star cluster with T^{2}=-1 such that the time-reversal symmetry is realized anomalously, despite the fact that bulk three-dimensional 1T-TaS_{2} material has an even number of electrons per unit cell with T^{2}=+1. This surface is effectively viewed as a spin-1/2 triangular lattice magnet, except with a fully gapped topological bulk. We further propose this surface termination realizes a spinon Fermi surface spin liquid with the surface fractionalization but with a nonexotic three-dimensional bulk. We analyze possible experimental consequences, especially the surface spectroscopic measurements, of the type-II terminated surface spin liquid.

Purpose: To explore the prenatal ultrasound signs of fetal congenital cataract, study the potential etiologies, and evaluate the perinatal outcomes and the prognosis.
Patients And Methods: The study included 29 cases of fetal congenital cataract identified using prenatal ultrasound screening from January 2018 to September 2023 in our hospital. Ultrasound signs, the potential etiologies, the perinatal outcomes, and prognosis were analyzed.

Transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) is an immunosuppressive cytokine that is overexpressed in tumor microenvironments. We have shown that CD8+ T cells with genetic ablation of the TGFβ type I receptor, Alk5 (CD8ΔALK5), were more sensitive to αCD3 stimulation resulting in enhanced proliferation and cytokine production. Based on these data, we hypothesized that TGFβ impaired T-cell receptor (TCR) signaling.

Cardiogenesis relies on the integrated interplay between cardiac transcription factors and signaling pathways. Here, we uncover a role for type IIA procollagen (IIA), an extracellular matrix (ECM) protein encoded by an alternatively spliced transcript, encoding a N-terminal cysteine-rich domain, as a critical regulator in a cardiac gene regulatory feedback loop. The cysteine-rich domain of IIA protein was previously reported to interact with bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and transforming growth factors-beta (TGFβ) in in vitro binding assays and acts as a BMP antagonist in amphibian embryo assays.

Using Drosophila type II neuroblasts as a model, here we report that specification of the differentiating progeny also requires the expression of the Notch target E(Spl)mγ in the stem cell to be kept at low levels by the SPEN family proteins, Spen and Nito. We show that loss of Spen or Nito leads to a drastic increase in E(Spl)mγ expression in the stem cell and subsequent dedifferentiation of its progeny.

Backgroud: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a phenotypically and genetically heterogeneous group of inherited connective tissue disorder. This investigation aims to elucidate the molecular etiology underlying a four-generation Chinese family affected by OI.
Methods: Whole-exome sequencing was employed to identify pathogenic variants in the proband, with subsequent Sanger sequencing performed for familial co-segregation analysis.
