This study aimed to evaluate the value of dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) combined with dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in predicting pathological complete response (pCR) in patients with breast cancer receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Fifty-seven female patients with breast cancer (mean age, 50.46 years; range, 32-66 years) scheduled for NAC were recruited. CEUS and DCE-MRI were performed before and after NAC. Imaging features and their changes were compared with postoperative pathological results. After the clinical differences were balanced using propensity score matching, univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were used to derive the characteristics independently associated with pCR. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to assess diagnostic performance. After six to eight cycles of NAC, 24 (42.1%) patients achieved pCR, while 33 (57.9%) did not. Multivariate analysis showed that enhancement order on CEUS and DCE-MRI before NAC, reduction in diameter and enhancement shape on CEUS, maximum diameter on DCE-MRI, and the type of progressive dynamic contrast enhancement after NAC were independently associated with pCR after NAC. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for CEUS+DCE-MRI was 0.911 (95% confidence interval, 0.826-0.997), and the specificity and positive predictive values were 87.0% and 87.5%. CEUS and DCE-MRI have the potential for assessing the pathological response to NAC in patients with breast cancer; their combination showed the best diagnostic performance. CEUS+DCE-MRI has proved beneficial for comprehensive assessment and personalizing treatment strategies for patients with breast cancer.

The International Center for the Study of Breast Cancer Subtypes (ICSBCS) has played a vital role in defining and overcoming many inequities that exist in breast cancer treatment and outcome on a global basis through capacity-building programs that improve the management of breast cancer patients across the African diaspora. ICSBCS activities also fill critical gaps in disparities research related to the genetics of ancestry. Over the past 20 years, ICSBCS teams have spearheaded landmark studies documenting the relevance of genetic African ancestry to breast cancer risk, while also improving the quality of care delivered to patients in diverse communities.

Background And Objective: Sacituzumab govitecan, an anti-trophoblast cell surface antigen 2 (TROP2) antibody-drug conjugate, has been approved by both the US Food and Drug Administration and European Medicines Agency for patients with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer who have received two or more prior systemic therapies, including at least one of them for advanced disease. Although TROP2 evaluation is not required for patient selection, survival data from the ASCENT trial show improved response rates in patients with high TROP2 expression by immunohistochemistry. However, there is no standardized testing assay for these patients.

The scientific community has become more enthusiastic about ketogenic diet (KD) to improve the outcomes in medical conditions, including cancer by exploiting the reprogramed metabolism of cancer cells, making the diet a promising candidate as an adjuvant cancer therapy. From this perspective, the aim of this study was to provide a broad overview covering the therapeutic effects, evaluating the clinical evidence of clinical studies underlying the implementation of the KD in the context of cancer treatment and prognosis. A scoping literature search between the years 1990 and 2023 was carried out by using PRISMA guidelines and searching through different databases of the clinical studies supporting the effectiveness and benefits of KD in various carcinomas that could provide findings of evidence on the prognosis and clinical outcomes of cancer treatment.

Background And Aims: Ultrasound-guided deep serratus anterior plane (SAP) block has recently gained popularity as an analgesic technique in breast surgery. However, the effectiveness of ultrasound depends largely on the quality of the equipment used, and the technique can be complicated by patient-related factors such as obesity. We hypothesized that the simpler open approach to deep SAP block would be non-inferior to the ultrasound-guided approach in providing analgesia for modified radical mastectomy.
