During recovery from heat stress, plants clear away the heat-stress-induced misfolded proteins through the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS). In the UPS, the recognition of substrate proteins by E3 ligase can be regulated by the N-terminal acetyltransferase A (NatA) complex. Here, we determined that Arabidopsis STRESS-RELATED UBIQUITIN-ASSOCIATED-DOMAIN PROTEIN FACTOR 1 (SUF1) interacts with the NatA complex core subunit NAA15 and positively regulates NAA15. The suf1 and naa15 mutants are sensitive to heat stress; the NatA substrate SNC1 is stabilized in suf1 mutant plants during heat stress recovery. Therefore, SUF1 and its interactor NAA15 play important roles in basal thermotolerance in Arabidopsis.

Immature zebrafish oocytes are highly susceptible to high temperatures, making it difficult to warm cryopreserved oocytes rapidly. In the present study, we aimed to investigate whether thermosensitive channels, lipid mediators, and ferroptosis are involved in heat stress-induced injury in immature zebrafish oocytes. Oocytes were injected with inhibitors of a heat-sensitive channel (TRPV1) and multiple enzymes-cytosolic phospholipase Aα (cPLAα), cyclooxygenases (COXs), arachidonate lipoxygenase 5 (ALOX5), and lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 2 (LPCAT2).

Basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors are essential regulators of various biological processes, including growth, development, and stress responses in eukaryotes. Despite their importance, the specific roles of bHLH factors in entomopathogenic fungi remain inadequately understood. In this study, we identified and characterized the bHLH transcription factor MrbHLH2 in the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii, which is widely used in biological control.

Shiga toxin (Stx) is a virulence factor produced by serotype 1 and Stx-producing (STEC). It causes severe renal damage, leading to hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The main target organ of Stx, the kidney, plays a role in maintaining water homeostasis in the body by increasing an osmotic gradient from the cortex to the medulla.

7-Ketocholesterol (7-KC) is a biologically active oxysterol formed through the oxidation of cholesterol, predominantly under conditions of oxidative stress. It is generated both enzymatically in specific tissues such as the brain and liver, and non-enzymatically via reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially in aging tissues and heat-processed animal-derived foods. 7-KC exerts multifaceted effects on human health, extending beyond lipid metabolism to disrupt glucose and amino acid utilization, impair mitochondrial function, and provoke endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.
