Eruptive xanthomas are skin manifestations associated with hypertriglyceridemia. Accordingly, the improvement of hypertriglyceridemia can ameliorate this condition. We report a case of a patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus who was diagnosed with this skin lesion. Clinicians should be aware that eruptive xanthomas could indicate metabolic disorders associated with atherosclerosis.

Xanthoma is a common cutaneous manifestation typically associated with abnormal lipid metabolism, particularly hyperlipidemia. Both hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia are significant components of metabolic syndrome and can elevate the risk of pancreatitis. Acute pancreatitis is a serious inflammatory disease that can be life-threatening and may be triggered by various factors, including hyperlipidemia.

We present the case of a 59-year-old male with multiple papules covering his arms and legs. A biopsy was suggestive for eruptive xanthomas. Additional biochemistry showed a triglyceride count of 900 mg/dL and a hemoglobin A1c of 11,4%.

Introduction And Importance: Severe hypertriglyceridemia is increasingly leading to referrals to endocrinology clinics. Patients commonly present with clinical manifestations such as recurrent abdominal pain, acute pancreatitis, and eruptive xanthomas.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a young male patient with over 30 recurrent episodes of acute pancreatitis and extremely elevated triglyceride levels.

Eruptive xanthomas (EXs) are yellowish-orange papulonodular cutaneous eruptions typically associated with severe hypertriglyceridemia. We present a case of a 40-year-old female with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus (DM) who developed EX concurrent with pancytopenia. The patient presented with epigastric discomfort, emesis, and generalized cutaneous eruptions.
