Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most prevalent autoimmune diseases, affecting approximately 1% of the total global population. Curcumin, a natural polyphenol is a substance that could potentially mitigate the course of this disease. To evaluate curcumin's anti-inflammatory impact on synoviocytes in the RA model, a set of experiments was conducted on SW982 cells, stimulated by IL-1, IL-6, or TNF- to emulate inflammation. During the research, the curcumin effect was evaluated by measuring cell survivability, expression of gene, subcellular localization of P70S6K1 protein, and its phosphorylated form and amount of produced IL-6 and TNF-. Results of conducted experiments presented a positive impact of curcumin on synoviocytes in the RA model, by reducing SW982 cells' survivability, decreasing levels of gene expression and TNF- protein production, which altogether confirm beneficial effects of the curcumin therapy in a RA model.

The NOD‑like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a key molecular complex that amplifies inflammatory cascades by maturing interleukin‑1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin‑18 (IL-18) and inducing pyroptosis. It serves as a major driver and co-driver of numerous diseases associated with chronic inflammation. Dysregulated NLRP3 activation contributes to the progression of disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, neurodegenerative diseases and atherosclerosis.

Background And Aim: The global ban on antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in poultry production has intensified the search for effective phytogenic alternatives. Roxb., commonly known as Javanese turmeric, exhibits antimicrobial and antioxidant properties attributed to its bioactive compounds, including xanthorrhizol and curcumin.

Turmeric () is primarily traded in dried form; preserving its bioactive compounds and quality through optimal drying methods is critical. This study evaluated the effects of various drying techniques-sun drying (SD), convection oven drying (COD), vacuum oven drying (VOD), infrared drying (IRD), microwave drying (MD), and freeze drying (FD)-on turmeric rhizomes slices. Key parameters analyzed included moisture loss, color, total phenolic content (TPC), curcumin content, antioxidant capacity and essential oil (EO) content and composition.

Aims: The increasing antimicrobial resistance, particularly in Acinetobacter baumannii, complicates the treatment of infections, leading to higher morbidity, mortality, and economic costs. Herein, we aimed to determine the in vitro antimicrobial, synergistic, and antibiofilm activities of colistin (COL), meropenem, and ciprofloxacin antibiotics, and curcumin, punicalagin, geraniol (GER), and linalool (LIN) plant-active ingredients alone and in combination against 31 multidrug-resistant (MDR) A. baumannii clinical isolates.

N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptors are validated druggable targets for the treatment of Alzheimer's and other associated neurological conditions, particularly in individuals with disabilities. Considering the excitotoxicity associated with NMDA receptors, which leads to neuronal damage, cognitive impairment, and limitations of current therapeutic regimens, better therapeutic candidates are required. One of the validated drug discovery approaches is computer-assisted drug discovery, supplemented by molecular docking, mechanics, and dynamics.
