The size of microbial sequence databases continues to grow beyond the abilities of existing alignment tools. We introduce LexicMap, a nucleotide sequence alignment tool for efficiently querying moderate-length sequences (>250 bp) such as a gene, plasmid or long read against up to millions of prokaryotic genomes. We construct a small set of probe k-mers, which are selected to efficiently sample the entire database to be indexed such that every 250-bp window of each database genome contains multiple seed k-mers, each with a shared prefix with one of the probes.

Purpose: The promotion of task-shifting and task-sharing to facilitate work style reform for physicians has enabled radiological technologists (RTs) to perform primary matching in image-guided radiotherapy. The purpose in this study is to evaluate the position matching accuracy of RTs and radiation oncologist (ROs).

Methods: Position matching was performed by four RTs and two ROs (RO-A and B).

Moderate Secondary Mitral Regurgitation: Evolving Evidence and Management Strategies.

J Am Coll Cardiol

September 2025

Institute of Cardiology, ASST Spedali Civili, Department of Medical and Surgical Specialties, Radiologic Sciences and Public Health, University of Brescia, Brescia, Italy. Electronic address:

Secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) is common in patients with heart failure (HF). Although randomized clinical trials have been focused on the treatment of severe SMR, the prognostic role and potential for treatment of moderate SMR cannot be overlooked. The randomized RESHAPE-HF2 trial included patients with moderate and severe SMR with consistent findings in both groups, raising the hypothesis that transcatheter correction of moderate SMR could have beneficial effects, although this needs further investigation.

Toward owner governance in genomic data privacy with Governome.

Cell Rep Methods

August 2025

School of Computing and Data Science, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong 999077, China. Electronic address:

Advancements in sequencing technologies grant individuals unprecedented access to their genomic data. However, existing data management systems or protocols are inadequate in privacy protection, limiting individuals' control over their genomic information, hindering data sharing, and posing challenges for biomedical research. Therefore, demand exists for an owner-governed system fulfilling owner authority, life cycle data encryption, and verifiability simultaneously.

Experiences of Social Relationships for Adults Living With Multiple Long-Term Conditions: A Qualitative Interview Study.

Health Expect

October 2025

Primary Care Research Centre, School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education, University of Southampton, Southampton, Hampshire, UK.

Background: Social relationships are important for self-management and outcomes of multiple long-term conditions (MLTC). Previous research indicates MLTC negatively impacts social relationships and people living with MLTC do not feel adequately supported to manage their health. However, there is limited understanding of the processes and contextual factors that influence social relationships in the context of MLTC.
