The role of different imaging modalities-non-contrast CT (NCCT), CT perfusion (CTP), and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)-in selecting patients with large-core stroke for endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is a subject of ongoing debate. This study aims to determine whether patients with large-core acute ischemic stroke (AIS) undergoing EVT triaged with CTP or DWI in addition to NCCT had different clinical outcomes compared to those only triaged with NCCT. We queried the Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm Registry (STAR) for patients enrolled between 2014 and 2023 who presented with anterior-circulation AIS and large ischemic core (ASPECTS < 6) who underwent EVT in 41 stroke centers in the USA, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Background: White matter in the human brain is known to play a critical role in facilitating communication between different brain regions. White matter microstructure is often quantified using fractional anisotropy (FA) derived from diffusion-weighted MRI and is often considered a key measure of neural efficiency that is positively associated with motor and cognitive functioning. While lifespan trajectories of FA have been well studied in cross-sectional designs, it remains less clear how FA changes longitudinally with age across the lifespan, and whether the rates of change are influenced by genetic variation.

Normal bone marrow is composed of red marrow, which is hematopoietically active (producing red blood cells), and yellow marrow, which is hematopoietically inactive (composed mainly of fat cells). In infancy, bone marrow is mostly red marrow and converts to fatty yellow marrow in a systematic and predictable manner over time. Therefore, depending on the patient's age, the MRI appearance of normal bone marrow will change.

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) encompasses a broad range of infection-induced inflammatory disorders of the female upper genital tract, commonly caused by ascending sexually transmitted infections. Diagnosis is often challenging because of nonspecific or absent symptoms and the overlap with other pelvic pathologies. While clinical and laboratory assessments are essential, cross-sectional imaging plays a pivotal role, especially in complicated, atypical, or equivocal cases.
