Article Abstract

Tetrix gibberosa (Wang Zheng) is a high-backed pygmy grasshopper species from eastern PR China. Due to its reduced hind wings and pleomorphism (length changes of hind wings and the hind pronotal process, which is generally called macropterous and brachypterous morphs), the species have been described into different species which involve several taxonomically confused genera. This study clarifies its taxonomy and distribution and provides ecological information for the species. At the same time, we comment the relationships of related genera in the subfamily Tetriginae, including Tetrix Latreille, Exothotettix Zheng Jiang, Alulatettix Liang, Aalatettix Zheng Mao, Formosatettix Tinkham, and Formosatettixoides Zheng. Additionally, we report for the first time that nematodes can parasitize pygmy grasshoppers. New synonyms are proposed: Tetrix gibberosa (Wang Zheng, 1993) = Alulatettix bulbosus Zheng Zhong, 2001, syn. nov., = Exothotettix jiangxiensis Liang Jia, 2008, syn. nov., = Tetrix glochinota Zhao, Niu Zheng, 2010, syn. nov., = Alulatettix nigromarginalis Zhang, Deng Zha, 2014, syn. nov., = Alulatettix flavotibialis Zhang, Deng Zha, 2014, syn. nov..

In-capillary enzymatic digestion beyond trypsin for the sensitive targeted bottom-up analysis of protein biomarkers by capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry.

Anal Chim Acta

Background: Targeted bottom-up proteomics is of great interest for the straightforward, accurate, and sensitive measurement of specific protein biomarkers from surrogate peptide fragments. However, this approach typically relies on off-line enzymatic digestion with trypsin, a time-consuming step that may be inadequate for covering certain sequence regions containing important post-translational modifications (PTMs).

Results: In this study, we present an in-line enzymatic digestion strategy for the targeted bottom-up analysis of α-synuclein (α-syn), which is a protein biomarker of Parkinson's disease (PD).

This work demonstrates for the first time the possibility of using a novel ionic liquid 3-(2-hydrazinyl-2-oxoethyl)-1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium chloride ([HOMI]Cl) as a derivatization reagent for steroid hormones and their subsequent analysis using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry in human urine. Derivatization conditions, such as pH, reagent concentration, reaction time and temperature were evaluated and optimized. A comparative study of [HOMI]Cl and hydroxylamine effectiveness revealed a formation of both syn- and anti-forms of the steroid derivatives for the novel [HOMI]Cl reagent similarly to a derivatization with hydroxylamine.

In this study, the moth genus Hampson, 1908 is reviewed, and a new genus, with its type species, are described from southeastern China. A new synonymy is established for the species Orhant, 2013 = Behounek, 1997, Additionally, (Hampson, 1896) is reported for the first time from China. The adult and genitalia characteristics of all species are illustrated, and a key is provided for identifying species of the two genera.

Pyridoxal phosphate inhibits alpha-synuclein-induced ferroptosis by activating GOT1 to enhance the methionine salvage pathway in Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the overpression of α-synuclein (α-syn) and the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons. Ferroptosis, a form of cell death driven by aberrant iron metabolism and lipid peroxidation, has been reported to play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of dopaminergic neurons death while the precise mechanisms remain elusive. In this study, we identified a cytosolic enzyme glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase (GOT)-1 as a negative regulator of ferroptosis through analyses of public databases.
