Partial volume correction (PVC) is needed for an accurate quantification in clinical PET. Novel PVC methods can be divided into 4 categories: Post-reconstruction region-based methods, returning PVC regional values, making them suitable for quantification but not visual analysis ; post-reconstruction image enhancement techniques, either based on deconvolution or on the combination in the wavelet domain of PET functional information with high resolution information ; in-reconstruction resolution modelling, by incorporating a resolution model in an iterative reconstruction algorithm combined with regularization ; and deep learning-based approaches, which are based on networks that can be trained either with simulated data, real data, or data corrected with another PVC method, or can be self-supervised.

Ultrasound imaging systems rely on accurate point spread function (PSF) estimation to support advanced image quality enhancement techniques such as deconvolution and speckle reduction. Phase aberration, caused by sound speed inhomogeneity within biological tissue, is inevitable in ultrasound imaging. It distorts the PSF by increasing sidelobe level and introducing asymmetric amplitude, making PSF estimation under phase aberration highly challenging.

They report that this method eliminates signatures of sensory evidence accumulation from response-aligned measurements of the centro-parietal positivity (CPP), suggesting that these signatures arise artifactually.

Current lensless extended depth-of-field (EDoF) cameras are primarily designed to generate a depth-invariant point spread function (PSF). This strategy often sacrifices diffraction efficiency to ensure PSF consistency across varying depths.

To date, single-lens imaging remains the most common configuration, partly due to the limited focusing efficiency of metalenses. This results in limitations when it comes to wavefront manipulation and, thus, unavoidable aberrations in the formed image that require computational deconvolution to deblur the image.
