Melatonin is known to be effective in improving sleep in pediatric patients affected by neurological and psychiatric conditions. However, no guidelines exist advising the most effective treatment schedule. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to identify the dose, time of administration and treatment duration associated with the maximal treatment efficacy.

Active films displayed substantial prospects to maintain quality of tropical fruits during storage and transportation. This study developed multifunctional composite films loaded with melatonin/carvacrol nanoemulsions (MCNE) in guar gum/pullulan polysaccharide (GP) matrixes. The SEM analysis showed that MCNE was uniformly dispersed in GP film matrixes, and formed dense and continuous phase structure.

Background: Sleep disorders show comorbidity with depression and Alzheimer's disease (AD), especially in ageing. However, the neuroimmunological role of sleep deprivation (SD) as possible inducer to these conditions remains unknown. Omega-3 fatty acids (n-3 FAs) can improve depression and AD through anti-inflammation, up-regulating neurotrophins and normalizing neurotransmitters, while their therapeutic effects on sleep deprivation (SD)-induced changes in different ages requires investigation.

Although delay-based shiftwork/jetlag schedules are often considered less disruptive than advances and are increasingly adopted in occupational settings, their long-term impact on physiological homeostasis remains underexplored. In this study, we investigated the consequences of repeated phase delays on circadian alignment, oxidative balance, endocrine function, and systemic inflammation in the diurnal rodent . Animals were kept either under a stable 12:12 hour light-dark (LD) cycle or subjected to a successive delay rotational shift (SDRS) schedule for 28 days.
