Technical advances in metagenomics and metatranscriptomics have dramatically accelerated virus discovery in recent years. "Chuviruses" were first described in 2015 as obscure negative-sense RNA viruses of diverse arthropods. Although "chuviruses" first appeared to be members of the negarnaviricot order in phylogenetic analyses using RNA-directed RNA polymerase sequences, further characterization revealed unusual gene orders in genomes that are nonsegmented, segmented, and/or possibly circular. Consequently, a separate order, , was established to include a monospecific family, . Recently, it has become apparent that jingchuvirals are broadly distributed and are therefore likely of ecological and economic importance. Here, we describe recent and ongoing efforts to create the necessary taxonomic framework to accommodate the expected flood of novel viruses belonging to the order.

Aims: Experimental evidence suggests an important role for sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) and its generating enzymes sphingosine kinase 1/2 (SphK1/2) in obesity. We and others have shown that plasma S1P levels are elevated in obese mice and humans. Preclinical studies suggest that genetic SphK2 ablation in mice protects from age- and diet-induced obesity and metabolic dysfunction.

Mapping functional brain networks is a critical component of stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) evaluations. Background: In this study we undertook an exploratory analysis of a new method for quantifying change in perceived intensity of tinnitus: the tinnitus magnitude equation (TMe). The TMe is based on Adaptation Level Theory (ALT) and is the difference between the product of Tinnitus Function Index (TFI) questions asking tinnitus loudness, awareness, and annoyance (intrusiveness scale) before and after therapy.
Methods: This is a secondary analysis of anonymized data.
