Article Abstract

Phafin2 is a peripheral protein that triggers cellular signaling from endosomal and lysosomal compartments. The specific subcellular localization of Phafin2 is mediated by the presence of a tandem of phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdIns3P)-binding domains, the pleckstrin homology (PH) and the Fab-1, YOTB, Vac1, and EEA1 (FYVE) domains. The requirement for both domains for binding to PtdIns3P still remains unclear. To understand the molecular interactions of the Phafin2 PH domain in detail, we report its nearly complete H, N, and C backbone resonance assignments.

Objectives: To evaluate whether q-Dixon sequence-based fat fraction (FF) values of the lumbar spine can predict osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) risk in older adult(s) osteoporosis patients.

Materials & Methods: Thirty OVCF patients and 15 osteoporosis patients were enrolled. Areas of interest (ROIs) were manually drawn using the post-processing workstation, and FF values of the patient's L1-L4 vertebrae (except the fractured vertebrae) were measured.

Symmetry Breaking Assisted Fast Reverse Intersystem Crossing for Efficient TADF Materials.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

September 2025

State Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, 510640, China.

Reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) process is critical for thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials to realize spin-flip of triplet excitons in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), but the RISC processes of most TADF materials are not fast enough, undermining electroluminescence (EL) efficiency stability and operational lifetime. Herein, a symmetry breaking strategy to accelerate RISC processes is proposed. By designing asymmetric electron-withdrawing backbone consisting of benzonitrile and xanthone/thioxanthone groups, two new asymmetric TADF molecules, 4tCzCN-pXT and 4tCzCN-pTXT, with multiple 3,6-di-tert-butylcarbazole donors are successfully developed.

BACKGROUND Degenerative cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) is an age-related degenerative condition of the vertebral bodies, discs, and ligaments that can cause pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. Anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion is a widely used surgical approach for treating CSM, aiming to decompress the spinal cord, restore vertebral alignment, and improve fusion rates, thus providing relief to affected patients. This study was a neurological and biomechanical evaluation of 72 patients with degenerative CSM at 3, 6, and 12 months following anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion.

Purpose: To investigate the images and treatment differences for Type IIIa atlantoaxial rotary dislocation (AARD) by comparing the imaging characteristics of patients with Type III and Type IIIa AARD.

Methods: The present study retrospectively analyzed a cohort of 35 patients who underwent posterior C1-C2 intra-articular fusion due to AARD from our hospital database. Among them, 23 patients were diagnosed with Type III AARD, while the remaining 12 patients were diagnosed with Type IIIa AARD.

Purpose: To investigate the role of personal risk factors in the occurrence of the vascular, neurological and fibroproliferative disorders of the hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) in workers groups exposed to hand-transmitted vibration (HTV).

Methods: HAVS prevalence and incidence data were pooled across a series of cross-sectional studies (total sample: 1272 HTV workers, 579 controls) and prospective cohort studies (total sample: 377 HTV workers, 138 controls) conducted in Central and North-Eastern Italy. The pooled studies included detailed individual-level information about HTV exposure, personal risk factors, medical comorbidities and HAVS disorders.
