Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) represents a significant public health burden in developing countries, where access to early diagnosis, comprehensive care, and research infrastructure is limited. This article synthesizes the insights generated during a Fireside Chat convened by members of the Latin American Cooperative Oncology Group (LACOG)-Head and Neck and the Brazilian Group of Head and Neck Cancer (GBCP), with the participation of international expert Professor Hisham Mehanna. The discussion addressed key challenges and opportunities in clinical and translational research within resource-constrained settings.

Hip dysplasia in cerebral palsy (CP) is a common and severe problem, especially among nonambulatory patients. A likely cause is muscular imbalance and developmental bone changes leading to a progressive extrusion of the femoral head from the acetabulum. The ideal surgical treatment aims to reduce the dislocated hip to improve pain, positioning, and function.

Objectives: To standardize the necessary competencies for medical students related to Head and Neck Surgery.
Methods: The study was performed in 2025. The Delphi process was employed in its sequential phases: the selection of an expert panel; a structured questionnaire containing a preliminary list of potential competencies; the electronic distribution of the questionnaire to the experts, with options to "maintain", "remove", or "modify" the competencies and to suggest the inclusion of new competencies; a second round indicating "agree" or "disagree" for each reformulated or new competency; and the final consensus.

The Brazilian Amazon estuary is a highly dynamic environment, characterized by substantial organic matter input and a rich diversity of fish species that utilize this ecosystem for feeding and reproduction. Despite its ecological relevance, ichthyo-parasitological research in the region remains limited, particularly regarding the diversity of parasitic species within the class Myxozoa. Among the fish species for which parasitological data are still scarce is the Pacamã frogfish, Batrachoides surinamensis (Bloch and Schneider, 1801), a demersal species that feeds on small invertebrates and fish.

The aim of this study was to compare the compressive forces generated by Dynamic Compression Angle-Stable Interlocking Nail (DCASIN) with those of traditional Dynamic Compression Plates (DCP) and Locking Compression Plates (LCP) using synthetic diaphyseal bone models (SDBM). Three groups were established based on the fixation method (G-DCASIN, G-DCP, and G-LCP), with implants fixed to SDBM simulating a transverse fracture, comprising 10 repetitions per group. A strain-gauge load cell was positioned in the SDBM gap to measure compressive forces in kilograms, recorded 30 s after the completion of each group-specific compression technique.
