Article Abstract

Upland cotton is the most widely planted for natural fiber around the world, and either lint percentage (LP) or fiber length (FL) is the crucial component tremendously affecting cotton yield and fiber quality, respectively. In this study, two lines MBZ70-053 and MBZ70-236 derived from CCRI70 recombinant inbred line (RIL) population presenting different phenotypes in LP and FL traits were chosen to conduct RNA sequencing on ovule and fiber samples, aiming at exploring the differences of molecular and genetic mechanisms during cotton fiber initiation and elongation stages. As a result, 249/128, 369/206, 4296/1198 and 3547/2129 up-/down- regulated differentially expressed genes (DGEs) in L2 were obtained at -3, 0, 5 and 10 days post-anthesis (DPA), respectively. Seven gene expression profiles were discriminated using Short Time-series Expression Miner (STEM) analysis; seven modules and hub genes were identified using weighted gene co-expression network analysis. The DEGs were mainly enriched into energetic metabolism and accumulating as well as auxin signaling pathway in initiation and elongation stages, respectively. Meanwhile, 29 hub genes were identified as , , , , , etc., where the DEGs and hub genes revealed the genetic and molecular mechanisms and differences during cotton fiber development.

The spindle cell variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is exceptionally rare and poses significant diagnostic challenges due to its morphological overlap with other spindle cell lesions of the thyroid. We report a novel case of spindle cell variant PTC in a 66-year-old woman presenting with a TI-RADS 4 thyroid nodule, initially classified as Bethesda III on fine-needle aspiration. Histopathological examination revealed a biphasic tumor composed predominantly of bland spindle cells arranged in solid sheets and fascicles, admixed with entrapped thyroid follicles.

We describe a modified Park's stitch technique incorporating systematic free margin alignment to achieve complete elimination of aortic regurgitation in patients with a left ventricular assist device. The technique involves a two-step approach: first, free margin alignment of all three cusps using single interrupted 6-0 polypropylene sutures placed at the nodules of Arantius to achieve precise coaptation, followed by conventional Park's stitch using mattress sutures with autologous pericardial pledgets for central closure. The alignment sutures remain in place to provide reinforcement.

Purpose: To assess how transitioning from an Aflibercept to a Faricimab intravitreal treatment impacts retinal structures and functional aspects in patients with neovascular age related macular degeneration (nAMD) in a real-life setting.

Patients And Methods: A retrospective clinical study including 49 patients (57 eyes) with nAMD at the Department of Ophthalmology and Optometry, Kepler University Hospital, Linz, Austria was performed. The patients, who had previously been receiving monthly Aflibercept injections with an unsatisfactory treatment response, were switched to intravitreal Faricimab and followed-up between 12/2022 and 12/2023.

The effect of shape and size of embolic agents on embolization phenomena has been discussed clinically for transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). We numerically discussed the unique embolization behavior of new deformable toroidal microparticles in blood vessels by computational fluid dynamics simulations. The difference in hydroxyl adsorption between Ni and Fe sites in NiFeOOH limits the efficient dual-site synergistic mechanism (DSSM) during oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Here, a novel needle-array electrodeposition is reported for the scalable and efficient fabrication of Co and Y co-doped NiFeOOH catalyst. It achieves an ultralow overpotential of 270 mV at 1 A cm with a small Tafel slope of 30.
