Article Abstract

The effect of ozone dosage on sludge settleability and biological nutrient removal performance in a sequencing batch reactor was investigated by inoculating the bulking sludge with the SVI of 280 mL·g from a wastewater treatment plant in winter. The filamentous mycelium was interrupted, and the SVI was decreased to 125 mL·g after ozone dosage with a low concentration of 0.085 g·g(O/MLSS) for 20 days, which indicated the disappearance of the sludge bulking. The performance of nitrification and phosphorus removal efficiency was not affected obviously. However, the sludge settleability deteriorated with a high dosage of ozone, and the phosphorus removal efficiency was decreased to around 60%. Further study showed that PS/PN had a positive correlation with SVI with the correlation coefficient of 0.9381, which can be used to characterize sludge settleability. A low ozone dosage not only interrupted the filamentous mycelium, but it also affected the content and composition of the EPS, which led to improved settleability.

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis, one manifestation of which involves pathological processes in various ocular structures. The most severe form is rosacea-associated keratitis. Given the multifactorial etiology and pathogenesis, this condition remains unpredictable and resistant to treatment.

This study explores the adsorption and catalytic degradation of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) from aqueous solutions, using montmorillonite-based catalysts. Commercially, montmorillonite K10 was modified through aluminum pillaring (K10-Al-PILC), followed by vanadium intercalation (K10-Al-PILC-V) and ozone activation. A novel aspect of this work is the use of naturally contaminated water as the TNT source.

Landfill leachate is a major environmental concern because of its high content of persistent organic compounds (POCs), which require advanced treatment techniques. This study introduces a novel hybrid ozonation-TiO-modified fly ash composite (FA@TiO) process enhanced by a peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for POC degradation in landfill leachate. The FA@TiO composite, synthesized the sol-gel method with optimal 20% TiO loading, leverages fly ash's cost-effectiveness and TiO's catalytic prowess.

Background: Spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a serious condition that can develop after spinal and thoracoabdominal surgeries or spinal cord traumas. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different administration routes of ozone on testicular tissue in rats with spinal cord ischemia and reperfusion injury.

Methods: Rats were divided into five groups (n:5): control (C), ischemia-reperfusion (IR), IR-rectal ozone (IR+RO), IR-intratechal ozone (IR+ITO), and IR-intraperitoneal (i.

Heterogeneous catalytic ozonation (HCO) is a promising technology with significant potential for water treatment, but its application is limited by the optimization of performance and energy consumption. This study proposed an innovative adaptive multi-task learning (MTL) framework for performance optimization (PO), energy consumption (EC), and performance-energy balance (PEB). The PEB-MTL constructed with implicit functions and Pareto optimization achieved a multi-task balance between pseudo-first-order rate constant (k) and Electrical Energy per Order (EE/O), and could simultaneously optimize performance and energy consumption through adaptive task weighting and random perturbation-enhanced PSO algorithm.
