Article Abstract

Background: The calcification sign assessed by computed tomography appears to be a potential marker for benignities among patients diagnosed with pulmonary nodules (PNs). The following meta-analysis has been purposefully designed to figure-out the diagnostic value of the calcification signature as a way of identifying benignities from PNs.

Methods: Cochrane Library, Embase and PubMed were considered as a reference to obtain the required data from January 2000 until October 2020. Stata v12.0 was used as a standard tool for statistical assessment.

Results: Eleven retrospective studies were assessed via this meta-analysis, which included 6136 PNs (1827 benign and 4309 malignant). The pooled diagnostic odd ratios, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), sensitivity and specificity were 6.79, 6.06, 0.89, 13% and 98%, respectively. The value obtained for the area under the curve was 0.65, showing moderate overall diagnostic accuracy. A significant heterogeneity was found while calculating the pooled sensitivity (I  = 85.5%), specificity (I  = 75.0%), PLR (I  = 59.0%), NLR (I  = 79.5%) and DOR (I  = 100.0%) in the current analysis. Sub-group analyses presented better PLR and specificity values for the study with a sample size ≥ 400. Deeks' funnel plot asymmetry test detected no potential evidence of significant publication bias (p = 0.091).

Conclusions: Calcification signs have been identified as moderate regulators corresponding to overall diagnostic performance (via marking a distinct differentiation between malignant and benign) for PNs. However, the manifestation of the calcification sign had a good directive property for benign PNs.

Introduction: The objective of this research is to investigate the diagnostic value of Ultrasonographic characteristics in breast cancer (BC) and its relation to hormone receptor status.

Method: Patients who underwent Breast Neoplasm surgery from January 2020 to December 2022 were included, 68 patients with malignant and 40 patients with benign, based on pathological diagnosis as the reference standard. Each patient volunteered for an elastography imaging examination, and one lesion was evaluated for each patient.

Background: Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) can be used to investigate the relationship between white adipose tissue (WAT) and brown adipose tissue (BAT) in pericardial fat (PF) and high-risk plaques (HRP) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). This study aimed to explore the association between specific components of PF and HRP/culprit ischemic plaques, as well as their mediating role in overall metabolic status, providing new imaging evidence for predicting adverse events in CAD.

Methods: The clinical risk factors and imaging images of 107 CAD patients were retrospectively analyzed.

Background: Coronary plaque vulnerability is associated with the fat attenuation index (FAI) of pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT), but the associations between vulnerability features and multiparametric indices of PCAT remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to explore the effect of four vulnerability features of atherosclerotic coronary plaque on multiparametric indices of PCAT and evaluate the relative responsiveness of these indices in determining the degree of vascular inflammation.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 443 patients clinically diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD) at Bozhou People's Hospital from January 2022 to August 2023.

Background: Carotid artery calcifications and pulpal stones are radiopaque findings that may be found accidentally in panoramic views. The risk of affliction with atherosclerotic events in diabetic patients with dystrophic calcification is questionable. This study aimed to investigate the relative frequency of carotid calcifications and pulp stones in panoramic radiographs of diabetic patients.

Coronary plaque vulnerability, more than luminal stenosis, drives acute coronary syndromes. Optical coherence tomography (OCT), intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), and coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) visualize plaque morphology in vivo, but manual interpretation is time-consuming and operator-dependent. We performed a narrative literature survey of artificial intelligence (AI) applications-focusing on machine learning (ML) architectures-for automated coronary plaque segmentation and risk characterization across OCT, IVUS, and CCTA.
