Chronic interstitial lung abnormalities have been described in sickle cell disease (SCD) and attributed to repetitive episode of acute chest syndrome. We report a series of 22 cases of diffuse cystic lung disease in SCD with a case-control study to hunt for mechanism. On pathological analysis of a surgical lung biopsy of the index case, the bronchioles had the appearance of constrictive bronchiolitis. Pulmonary function test results revealed lower forced expiratory flow from 25% to 75% of vital capacity in cases versus controls. These findings suggest a bronchiolar mechanism that was not associated with more acute chest syndrome.

Background: Synergy between antibiotic pairs is typically discovered using chequerboard assays that assume uniform, static drug exposure; however, such conditions rarely apply in vivo. Dynamic and heterogeneous tissue environments create spatial and temporal mismatches in drug exposure that can uncouple synergistic interactions, leading to unexpected treatment failure.
Objective: This study aims to develop a physiologically relevant in vitro model that integrates infection-site microenvironments and drug-specific pharmacokinetics.

The Von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL) is an autosomal dominant condition characterized by multiple cystic tumors in several organs, including the pancreas. The symptoms are variable, and suspicion must be raised with typical lesions, such as a hemangioblastoma of the central nervous system (CNS) or retina, associated with a renal cell carcinoma, a pheochromocytoma or multiple pancreatic cysts, besides neuroendocrine tumors (NET). The diagnosis in a patient without a family history should be suspected in case of a hemangioblastoma of the CNS and/or retina, which could also be associated with other lesions, such as pancreatic cysts and NETs.

Approximately 3% to 5% of individuals with oncogenic rearrangements in the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene develop non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Brigatinib, a potent next-generation ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), has demonstrated significant systemic and intracranial responses, as well as improved progression-free survival, with an acceptable safety profile. According to European Society for Medical Oncology guidelines patients with ALK translocation and performance status 0-3 can be offered 1st line treatment with TKI (brigatinib, alectinib, or lorlatinib).

Benign lymphoepithelial tumors of salivary glands had been restricted to sebaceous and non-sebaceous (NSLA) lymphadenomas. However, salivary neoplasms recapitulating carcinoma showing thymus-like elements (CASTLE) have been the subject of recent case reports. We reviewed clinicopathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular findings in 20 salivary gland tumors with thymus-like phenotype (18 histologically benign and two with malignant component).
