Article Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to map responses over 32 hours following high-load (HL) and moderate-load (ML) half-squat priming.

Methods: Fifteen participants completed control, HL (87% 1RM), and ML (65% 1RM) activities in randomized, counterbalanced order. Countermovement jump (CMJ), squat jump (SJ), saliva testosterone, saliva cortisol, and perceptual measures were assessed before and 5 minutes, 8 hours, 24 hours, and 32 hours after each activity. Results are presented as percentage change from baseline and 95% confidence interval (CI). Cliff delta was used to determine threshold for group changes.

Results: SJ height increased by 4.5% (CI = 2.2-6.8, Cliff delta = 0.20) 8 hours following HL. CMJ and SJ improved by 6.1% (CI = 2.1-7.8, Cliff delta = 0.27) and 6.5% (CI = 1.2-11.8, Cliff delta = 0.30), respectively, 32 hours after ML. No clear diurnal changes in CMJ or SJ occurred 8 hours following control; however, increases of 3.9% (CI = 2.9-9.2, Cliff delta = 0.26) and 4.5% (CI = 0.9-8.1, Cliff delta = 0.24), respectively, were observed after 32 hours. Although diurnal changes in saliva hormone concentration occurred (Cliff delta = 0.37-0.92), the influence of priming was unclear. Perceived "physical feeling" was greater 8 hours following HL (Cliff delta = 0.36) and 32 hours after ML and control (Cliff delta = 0.17-0.34).

Conclusions: HL priming in the morning may result in small improvements in jump output and psychophysiological state in the afternoon. Similar improvements were observed in the afternoon the day after ML priming.

Statement Of Problem: The reproducibility of positioning the maxillary occlusal plane in an articulator with a facebow remains debated. Its clinical use is widespread, yet its reliability and clinical outcomes compared to other transfer methods under standardized conditions remain uncertain.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the intra-operator reproducibility of maxillary positioning on an articulator using a facebow compared to a standardized transfer table.

Background: Arterial catheters (ACs) are commonly used in intensive care units (ICUs) for monitoring and blood sampling. Optimising AC care requires a better understanding of current use and practices.

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of AC use in ICU patients and describe current clinical practices.

Zero-amplitude sample padding ("zero-padding") is automatically inserted during Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) encoding by iOS applications such as Apple Voice Memos, potentially affecting the reliability of forensic audio stream hashing by altering decoded audio data structure without impacting perceptual content. This study quantitatively analyzed 100 M4A (AAC) recordings from 11 iPhone devices across 5 distinct models under controlled high and low background noise conditions to examine the consistency of zero-padding across devices (RQ1) and the influence of background noise (RQ2). Pre-signal zero-padding was measured using validated methods across MATLAB, Pydub, and Py-audioread.

Background: Inappropriate manipulations of digital images pose significant risks to research integrity. Here we assessed the capability of students and researchers to detect image duplications in biomedical images.

Methods: We conducted a pen-and-paper survey involving medical students who had been exposed to research paper images during their studies, as well as active researchers.

Predictive value of IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, and vaginal pH in diagnosing vaginal microbial infections: A host-inflammatory axis perspective.

J Microbiol Methods

August 2025

Department of Biosciences, School of Liberal Arts and Science, Mody University of Science and Technology, Lakshmangarh 332311, Rajasthan, India. Electronic address:

Microbial-associated vaginal infections are common among women of reproductive age and are linked to alterations in the local immune environment. Inflammatory biomarkers such as IL-6, IL-β, and TNF-α, along with vaginal pH have emerged as potential indicators of microbial dysbiosis. This study aimed to statistically evaluate the ability of these specific inflammatory cytokines and vaginal pH to identify infection status.
