We have designed a new chiral receptor based on two salen zinc(ii) complex units connected with a spirobifluorene framework. The chiral receptor is proven to enantioselectively bind chiral carboxylate guests and the differences between the binding constants of enantiomeric guests were up to more than one order of magnitude.

To target epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling in breast (MCF-7) and lung (A549) cancers, a library of chirally functionalized 1,3,5-triazine scaffolds was designed by a ligand-based drug design approach. An optimized synthetic protocol employing sequential chlorine replacement on cyanuric chloride delivered enantiomerically pure chiral-1,3,5-triazine derivatives. Through systematic structural modifications, fine-tuned physicochemical properties and optimal ADME profiles are achieved.

Ibuprofen (IBU) is used as a racemic mixture despite enantiomeric pharmacological differences. However, its stereoselectivity in aquatic ecosystems remains inadequately characterized, leading to potential environmental risk uncertainties. This study presents a comprehensive, integrated, multi-tiered evaluation of the enantioselective ecotoxicity, environmental fate, and ecological risk of IBU in aquatic environments.

Neurodegenerative diseases are multifactorial disorders characterized by protein misfolding, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation, finally resulting in neuronal loss and cognitive dysfunctions. Nowadays, an attractive strategy to improve the classical treatments is the development of multitarget-directed molecules able to synergistically interact with different enzymes and/or receptors. A novel series of chiral carbamate and carbamothioate derivatives were designed, synthesized, and investigated as inhibition of cholinesterases and monoamine oxidases, anti-β-amyloid aggregation and antioxidant activities against Alzheimer's disease.

This work presents a strategy for the fabrication of multicolor-emitting circularly polarized afterglow (CPA) films by assembling achiral phosphorescent donors and fluorescent emitters in a photonic crystal matrix. Achiral positively charged phosphors and fluorophores with good spectral overlap are selected as the donor and sequential receptors, which are then coassembled with poly-(vinyl alcohol) and cellulose nanocrystals. CPA can be achieved in the blue to near-infrared (NIR) range with stepwise amplification of the dissymmetry factor (lifetime up to 4.

Sphingolipids (SLs) are a class of bioactive lipids characterized by sphingoid bases (SBs) as their backbone structure. These molecules exhibit distinct cellular functions, including cell growth, apoptosis, senescence, migration, and inflammatory responses, by interacting with esterases, amidases, kinases, phosphatases, and membrane receptors. These interactions result in a highly interconnected network of enzymes and pathways, known as the sphingolipidome.
