Article Abstract

The Mediator complex plays an essential and multi-faceted role in regulation of RNA polymerase II transcription in all eukaryotes. Structural analysis of yeast Mediator has provided an understanding of the conserved core of the complex and its interaction with RNA polymerase II but failed to reveal the structure of the Tail module that contains most subunits targeted by activators and repressors. Here we present a molecular model of mammalian (Mus musculus) Mediator, derived from a 4.0 Å resolution cryo-EM map of the complex. The mammalian Mediator structure reveals that the previously unresolved Tail module, which includes a number of metazoan specific subunits, interacts extensively with core Mediator and has the potential to influence its conformation and interactions.

Chinese crop diseases and pests named entity recognition (CCDP-NER) is a critical step in extracting domain-specific information in the field of crop diseases and pests, playing a significant role in promoting agricultural informatization. To address challenges such as noisy data, erroneous annotations, and ambiguous entity boundaries in the crop disease and pest domain, this study proposes a deep learning-based CCDP-NER model. The model employs a bidirectional gated recurrent Unit (BiGRU) to capture long-range semantic dependencies and integrates multi-level dilated convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) to extract local fine-grained features, thereby constructing a global-local collaborative representation.

High-order correlations, which capture complex interactions among multiple entities, extend beyond traditional graph representations and support a wider range of applications. However, existing neural network models for high-order correlations encounter scalability issues on large datasets due to the substantial computational complexity involved in processing large-scale structures. In addition, long-tailed distributions, which are common in real-world data, result in underrepresented categories and hinder the model's ability to learn effective high-order interaction patterns for rare instances.

While the majority of viruses falls within a handful of well-defined realms, many novel viruses and virus-like genetic elements remain to be discovered. Given the abundance and diversity of small, circular DNA genomes in animal gut viromes, we hypothesized that viruses of similar size might have been overlooked in other environments. Re-analyzing existing ocean virome datasets for small viruses, we discover a novel group of circular mobile genetic elements of ∼4.

Messenger RNA (mRNA) technology is gaining attention for its potential in developing next-generation therapeutics. However, developing effective protein expression control technologies to regulate mRNA translation, particularly in a cell type- and tissue-specific manner, remains challenging. To achieve enhanced precision in translational regulation, we developed a microRNA (miRNA)-sensing hybrid mRNA switch, integrating an ON-type switch, which activates translation by detecting specific miRNAs expressed in target cells, into an OFF-type switch, which represses translation by sensing another miRNA in non-target cells.

Immersion and invariance adaptive controller and mixer for coaxial tilt-rotor UAV.

This study presents a motion control system for a coaxial tilt-rotor (CTR) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with two CTR modules and a tail rotor. The existing adaptive control strategies for CTRUAVs fail to guarantee the theoretical convergence of estimated parameters to their true values. Additionally, the existing mixer requires frequent and inefficient adjustments of the tilt angles for motion control.
