Background: Patients who receive percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have different chances of developing in-stent restenosis (ISR). To date, no predictable biomarker can be applied in the clinic. MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) play critical roles in transcription regulation, and their circulating levels were reported to have potential as clinical biomarkers.
Methods: In total, 93 coronary stent-implanted patients without pregnancy, liver or renal dysfunction, malignancy, hemophilia, or autoimmune diseases were recruited in this clinical study. All recruited participants were divided into an ISR group (n = 45) and a non-ISR group (n = 48) based on their restenotic status as confirmed by cardiologists at the first follow-up visit (6 months after surgery). Blood samples of all participants were harvested to measure circulating levels of miRNA candidates (miR-132, miR-142-5p, miR-15b, miR-24-2, and miR-424) to evaluate whether these circulating miRNAs can be applied as predictive biomarkers of ISR.
Results: Our data indicated that circulating levels of miR-142-5p were significantly higher in the ISR population, and results from the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis also demonstrated superior discriminatory ability of miR-142-5p in predicting patients' restenotic status. In addition, circulating levels of miR-15b, miR-24-2, and miR-424 had differential expressions in participants with diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension, respectively.
Conclusions: The current study revealed that the circulating level of miR-142-5p has potential application as a clinical biomarker for predicting the development of ISR in stent-implanted patients.

X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) is a rare and progressive disease, due to inactivating mutations in the phosphate-regulating endopeptidase homolog X-linked (PHEX) gene. These pathogenic variants result in elevated circulating levels of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), responsible for the main clinical manifestations of XLH, such as hypophosphatemia, skeletal deformities, and mineralization defects. However, XLH also involves muscular disorders (muscle weakness, pain, reduced muscle density, peak strength, and power).

Objective: To determine the effect of a prepregnancy lifestyle intervention on glucose tolerance in people at higher risk of gestational diabetes mellitus.
Design: Single centre randomised controlled trial (BEFORE THE BEGINNING).
Setting: University hospital in Trondheim, Norway.
Patients with cardiovascular compromise are likely to develop hypotension upon receiving even small doses of sedatives. On the other hand, patients with severe dental phobias or with intellectual disability who have a severe gag reflex often require deeper levels of anesthesia. Thus, achieving an optimal level of anesthesia can be difficult in patients with cardiovascular compromise because of the relatively narrow range of sedative dosing capable of providing sufficient sedation to prevent the gag reflex without compromising hemodynamics.

Achieving immune tolerance is a key goal in organ transplantation, as it eliminates the need for long-term immunosuppression. Regulatory B cells (Bregs) present a promising strategy for inducing tolerance. Single-cell surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has emerged as a powerful tool for precision medicine owing to its label-free detection, ultrasensitivity, and unique molecular fingerprinting. Unlike conventional bulk analysis, it enables detailed characterization of cellular heterogeneity, with particular promise in circulating tumor cell (CTC) identification, tumor microenvironment (TME) metabolic profiling, subcellular imaging, and drug sensitivity assessment. Coupled with microfluidic droplet systems, SERS supports high-throughput single-cell analysis and multiparametric screening, while integration with complementary modalities such as fluorescence microscopy and mass spectrometry enhances temporal and spatial resolution for monitoring live cells.
