Article Abstract

Styrenic thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) consist of styrenic blocks. They are connected with other soft segments by a covalent linkage and are widely used in human life. However, in biomedical applications, TPEs need to be chemically hydrogenated in advance to enhance their properties such as strong UV/ozone resistance and thermal-oxidative stability. In this study, films composed of sulfonated hydrogenated TPEs were evaluated. Hydrogenated -butyl styrene-styrene-isoprene block copolymers were synthesized and selectively sulfonated to different degrees by reaction with acetyl sulfate. By controlling the ratio of the hydrogenated -butyl styrene-styrene-isoprene block copolymer and acetyl sulfate, sulfonated films were optimized to demonstrate sufficient mechanical integrity in water as well as good biocompatibility. The thermal plastic sulfonated films were found to be free of cytotoxicity and platelet-compatible and could be potential candidates in biomedical film applications such as wound dressings.

Solar-driven photocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction using covalent organic frameworks (COFs) offers a promising approach for sustainable hydrogen peroxide (HO) production. Despite their advantages, the reported COFs-based photocatalysts suffer insufficient photocatalytic HO efficiency due to the mismatched electron-proton dynamics. Herein, we report three one-dimensional (1D) COF photocatalysts for efficient HO production via the hydrogen radical (H•) mediated concerted electron-proton transfer (CEPT) process.

A continuous-flow synthesis of sulfoxides from sulfides was achieved oxidation with hydrogen peroxide (HO) in the presence of the catalyst generated by simply packing a reactor column with a mixture of iron(III) chloride (FeCl) and activated carbon followed by the pre-activation step in which an HO-acetonitrile solution was passed into the column. This activation step appeared to convert FeCl to iron oxide species, thereby enhancing catalytic efficiency. Sulfoxides were continuously produced in >90% yield for up to 150 h.

Background: The optimal duration for vonoprazan and amoxicillin dual therapy (VA-DT) remains unclear, and studies on gastric acid suppression of vonoprazan during eradication are still lacking.

Objective: This study conducted a multicenter, randomized controlled trial to compare the eradication efficacy between 10 and 14-day VA-DT, and to identify the dynamic changes of gastric pH during treatment.

Methods: This study included 418 naïve adult patients with Helicobacter pylori infection, who were randomly divided into 10 or 14-day VA-DT groups (vonoprazan 20 mg twice daily and amoxicillin 1000 mg thrice daily).
