Background And Aims: This study reports on the perioperative and mid-term outcomes of a novel thoracic stent graft in aortic arch pathologies.

Methods: From January 2017 to May 2023, all patients treated with Ankura (Lifetech Scientific, Shenzhen, China) thoracic endograft combined with extra-anatomic and/or endovascular perfusion of supra-aortic branches at two university vascular centers were retrospectively reviewed. Indications for treatment included aneurysm, dissection, penetrating ulcer, intramural hematoma, traumatic rupture of the aortic arch and endoleak type Ia (Ia EL) of previous endovascular repair of the descending thoracic aorta.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation-in-transcatheter aortic valve implantation represents a progressive solution for patients with degenerated transcatheter heart valves, especially those at high surgical risk. With the increasing use of transcatheter aortic valve implantation worldwide, the need for redo procedures is also rising. Balloon-expandable valves such as the Myval transcatheter heart valve (Meril Life Sciences Pvt.

Energy metabolism at the emergence of life has been the topic of intense theoretical and experimental study. Alkaline hydrothermal vents (AHVs) may have facilitated energy transfer and carbon fixation at life's emergence. Specifically, pH separation across vent walls could have been the forerunner to pH separation across cell membranes, with inorganic barriers containing [Ni-]FeS minerals as precursors of metalloenzymes in potentially ancient biological reductive acetyl-CoA Wood-Ljungdahl (WL) and other metabolic pathways.

Clinical outcomes of chimney endovascular aneurysm repair versus open surgical repair for short-neck abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Surg Today

July 2025

Department of Surgery and Science, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University, 3-1-1, Maidashi, Higashi-Ku, Fukuoka, 812-8582, Japan.

Purpose: To compare the outcomes of chimney endovascular aneurysm repair (Ch-EVAR) and open surgical repair (OSR) for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in consideration of the lack of comparative evidence.

Methods: The subjects of this retrospective study were patients who underwent elective Ch-EVAR or OSR for short-neck AAAs between 2013 and 2020 at five vascular centers. The primary endpoint was 30-day mortality and the secondary endpoints were postoperative complications and midterm clinical outcomes, including renal function changes, reintervention, overall survival, and aneurysm-related mortality.

Early Outcomes of Chimney Commando Procedure In Redo Double Valve Replacement: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg

July 2025

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Hubei, China. Electronic address:

Objective: To assess the early outcomes of the Chimney Commando (CC) procedure in patients who underwent redo double valve replacement (DVR) with and without CC.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of 194 patients undergoing redo double valve replacement (DVR) at Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital from December 2019 to December 2024. 101 patients were in CC+DVR group and 93 in isolated DVR group.
