Article Abstract

Weight gain associated with integrase inhibitor-based treatment has become a critical issue in the clinical management of HIV infection. We analyzed changes in weight and body fat mass in 54 virologically suppressed patients who switched to lamivudine plus raltegravir or dolutegravir. Overall, after 12 months we reported a not significant increase in weight (median, +1.74 kg;  = .223) and total fat mass (median, +1.13 kg;  = .188), and these changes were comparable between groups. The median change in lumbar spine bone mineral density (BMD) [interquartile range (IQR)] was +0.02 g/cm (-0.02, +0.05;  = .786), and the median change in femur neck BMD (IQR) was +0.04 g/cm (-0.03, +0.06;  = .598), and changes were comparable between groups. In conclusion, the switch to dolutegravir/lamivudine or raltegravir/lamivudine dual therapy in virologically suppressed patients did not produce significant increases in weight and body fat mass after a 12-month follow-up, in association with not significant changes in BMD.

Background: Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) is associated with several cardiometabolic risk factors, particularly metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. Reference values for VAT vary across populations, genders, and ages. Data on visceral fat in the Algerian population are lacking.

Increased adiposity and chronic psychosocial stress (CPS) are plausible modifiable contributors of the recent increase in early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC). We conducted an 8-week randomized controlled pilot trial evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of time restricted eating (TRE) (daily ad libitum eating between 12-8pm) and Mindfulness ("Mindfulness for Beginners" course from the Calm app) among young adults. Participants were randomized to the following groups: TRE ( = 10); Mindfulness ( = 11); TRE & Mindfulness ( = 11); or Control ( = 11).

Aims: Obesity is commonly hypothesized to lead to the development of heart failure (HF) in part due to increases in blood volume (BV) and left ventricular (LV) remodelling. Whether adiposity and obesity severity are associated with BV expansion and subsequent LV remodelling in middle-aged individuals at increased risk (IR) prior to the onset of HF is unknown.

Methods And Results: We analysed data from 96 middle-aged (40-64 years) non-obese (25.

Background: The approval of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator modulators elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI), has significantly improved pulmonary function for people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF). However, the effects on CF-related bone disease and body composition remain unclear.

Methods: This retrospective real-world study examined adults with CF who received ETI treatment.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a a complex metabolic disorder that poses a serious threat to human health. Although polyphenol extract from rapeseed meal (RMP) has demonstrated inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase, the alleviating effects on T2DM and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unexplored in T2DM. In this study, the antidiabetic effects of RMP were investigated using a T2DM mouse model induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) combined with streptozotocin (STZ) administration.
