Cybersecurity is increasingly affecting the healthcare sector. In a recent article, the authors analyzed specific attacks against picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) and medical imaging networks and proposed security measures. This article discusses issues that require consideration when deploying these proposed measures and provides recommendations on how to implement them. Hospitals should deploy virus scanners on systems where permitted, with high priority on devices that are part of the central IT infrastructure of the hospital. They should introduce a systematic management of software updates on operating system, application software and virus scanner level and clarify the provision of security updates for the intended duration of use when purchasing a new device. They should agree with the PACS vendor on a long-term strategy for implementing access rights, and enable encrypted network communication where possible. This requires an agreement on the encryption algorithms to be used, and a public-key infrastructure. For most of these tasks, standards and profiles exist today. There are, however, some gaps: Implementation of cybersecurity measures would be facilitated by integration profiles on certificate and signature management, and access rights in a PACS environment.

Liposomal carriers, used for site-specific drug delivery, are being investigated for diagnostic approaches by replacing the therapeutic with an imaging contrast agent, exploring potential for selective treatment planning. There remains a critical need to improve assessment of biodistribution, stability, and clearance kinetics of liposomal carriers. This pilot study presents a multimodal approach in which liposome-encapsulated J-aggregated indocyanine green (ICG) dye (Lipo-JICG) is imaged with high spatial resolution using both photoacoustic (PA) imaging, to assess the absorbance characteristics of JICG and monomeric ICG, and cryofluorescence tomography (CFT), to measure ICG fluorescence.

Background: Developing quantitative methods to assess post-surgery treatment response in Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is critical for improving patient outcomes and refining current subjective approaches. This study analyzes the performance of machine learning models trained on radiomic datasets derived from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of GBM patients.
Methods: MRI scans from 143 GBM patients receiving adjuvant therapy post-surgery were acquired and preprocessed.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) often co-occur and present significant treatment challenges. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a widely used, efficacious treatment for PTSD, but the application of CPT among individuals with co-occurring PTSD/AUD has been limited. To address this gap, we developed a novel, 12-session trauma-focused treatment that combines CPT with Relapse Prevention (RP) for AUD (CPT+RP).
