The Kuntscher nail, once a pioneering solution for femoral shaft fracture fixation, has largely fallen out of use with the emergence of modern interlocking intramedullary systems. However, retained Kuntscher nails may still be encountered in older patients and can pose significant technical challenges when removal is required, especially in cases of incarceration. Standard closed extraction methods are often ineffective, necessitating alternative surgical strategies.

Introduction: EyeMatics (Eye disease "treated" with interoperable medical informatics) is a clinical use case in Germany's Medical Informatics Initiative (MII). The objective of EyeMatics is to improve the understanding of the treatment effects of intravitreal injections, the most frequent procedure to treat retinal diseases. To achieve this, as part of the efforts, medical data of multiple hospital sites must be integrated into a local FHIR repositories using a common set of FHIR profiles.

Climate change and other anthropogenic stressors have severe impacts on the ecological functioning of marine ecosystems by causing widespread declines in population sizes and, for surviving individuals, limiting the capacity for population recovery through sexual reproduction. Ecological theory suggests that affected populations can suffer local extinction because of Allee effects, where reduced population densities prevent gamete encounters, resulting in reproductive failure. Without understanding the relationship between the density or spacing of spawning individuals and fertilization success, coral reefs may unknowingly pass a critical population threshold, further complicating conservation efforts.

Large language models (LLMs), or models which generate human like responses to people's queries, are growing in popularity and may be an additional tool to access information related to sexual communication - including sexual consent and refusals. However, whether LLMs can identify sexual communication in hypothetical situations and how this influences their understanding of whether an encounter could be consensual is unclear, despite the importance of this capability as these tools become increasingly integrated into the sexual health field. Our study provided four different LLMs a series of seven sexual scenarios where sexual communication and context was manipulated.
