Article Abstract

Femoral shaft nonunion after the intramedullary nailing has been successfully treated with advances in surgical technique. Nonetheless, the techniques cause morbidity to periosteum at the fracture site. We report the case of a 67-year-old man who underwent endoscopic surgery for refractory nonunion following the fracture of the distal femoral shaft, despite two fixations using an interlocking nail. In addition, the patient had uncontrolled diabetic mellitus. Endoscopy allowed us to acquire a clear view of the nonunion site, in which the resection of scar tissues and the packing of the cancellous bone were performed. At the final follow-up, bone healing was observed, and the patient was able to return to normal daily and social activity.

An expander capsule is a fibrous membrane that forms around an expander after tissue expansion. However, whether the capsule should be removed after the expander is removed remains controversial. The authors aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of cervical capsulectomy for improving neck mobility and appearance after expanded flap transfer.

The integration of robotic platforms in breast oncology has witnessed substantial expansion, fueled by their inherent advantages in minimally invasive access and enhanced intraoperative maneuverability. Most of the robotic-assisted breast surgery has been performed using multi-arm robots. However, the implementation of single-port robotic (SPr) systems in mammary interventions continues to undergo rigorous clinical evaluation, particularly regarding long-term oncological safety and cost-effectiveness metrics.

Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive auto-inflammatory disorder that primarily affects individuals of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and South Asian origin . We report the case of a male patient in his late 20s who was diagnosed with FMF at the age of 17 years. Prior to the diagnosis, he underwent two unnecessary surgical interventions due to recurrent episodes of acute abdominal pain-an appendectomy, followed 3 years later by a negative exploratory laparotomy for suspected adhesive small bowel obstruction (SBO).

Colorectal polyps remain a significant health concern because they can develop into cancer. Therefore, accurate assessment and diagnosis of polyps, along with appropriate treatment decisions, are crucial in preventing complications or malignant transformation. Some polyps are classified as complex polyps, which means they fail to elevate due to a scar from a previously removed polyp or can be determined by a scoring system like the size/morphology/site/access score, which considers factors like site, morphology, size, and access.

To evaluate the feasibility and clinical efficacy of transoral endoscopic-assisted submandibular gland resection with low-temperature plasma knife technology, aiming to establish a scarless surgical approach to meet the patients aesthetic demands. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 5 consecutive patients with benign submandibular gland pathologies treated by a single surgical team between January 2021 and December 2023. All procedures employed a transoral mucosal incision in the floor of mouth, with 0-degree high-definition endoscope assistance and low-temperature plasma knife for precise dissection and hemostasis.
