Tissue expansion is a versatile tool in resurfacing soft tissue defects of the breast, extremity, head and neck that involves the placement of a temporary implant adjacent to a soft tissue defect. Incremental expansion exploits the viscoelastic properties of skin to generate a skin flap that can be used to resurface defects and provide cover over permanent protheses. Infection, implant extrusion and skin necrosis are recognized complications of tissue expansion. This article presents a revised framework of 10 technical factors to reduce the risk of complications and optimize outcomes with tissue expansion using an illustrative case presentation.

The PR10 (Pathogenesis-Related Protein 10) family plays a crucial role in plant defense and growth regulation, with unique hydrophobic cavities that bind various ligands, including phytohormones and alkaloids. Among them, Norcoclaurine Synthases (NCS) are key enzymes in benzylisoquinoline alkaloid (BIAs) biosynthesis, catalyzing the Pictet-Spengler reaction to form the precursor (S)-norcoclaurine. However, the evolutionary origins and functions of the PR10 family in BIA biosynthesis remain unclear.

Background: Tracheobronchial injuries (TBI) are rare yet potentially fatal complications of blunt chest trauma, often underdiagnosed due to nonspecific clinical manifestations.
Case Presentation: We report the case of an 11-year-old Arab girl who developed progressive dyspnea two months after a motor vehicle accident initially managed conservatively. Imaging revealed complete atelectasis of the right lung and obstruction of the right main bronchus by granulation tissue.

Introduction: The presence of stem cells in the ovary has been a topic of discussion due to their questionable existence. Isolation of stem cells has been possible by enzymatic digestion; however, the percentage of cells harvested and expanded has not been satisfactory. This could be due to the lack of optimal adhesion provided by the standard commercial culture dishes, which affects the initial attachment and further growth of cells.

Objective: To explore the impact of Tripterygium wilfordii glycosides (TWG) on glomerulosclerosis within a rat model of chronic kidney disease (CKD), as well as the role of the transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)/Smad signaling pathway in this mechanism.
Methods: Twenty-four clean Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into Sham group (n = 8), model group (n = 8) and TWG group (n = 8). Adriamycin nephropathy (ADRN) rat model was established by jugular vein injection of adriamycin (ADR).

Somatic mutations in several genes, including key oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes, are present from early life and can accumulate as an individual ages, indicating that the potential for cancer is present and growing throughout life. However, the risk of developing cancer rises sharply after 50-60 years of age, suggesting that the ability of these mutations to undergo clonal expansion and drive cancer development is dependent on the progressive changes in the epigenome and microenvironment that occur during ageing. Epigenetic changes, including DNA methylation and histone modifications, can drive various hallmarks of ageing in precancerous cells, including induction of senescence, the senescence-associated secretory phenotype, genomic instability and reduction of nuclear integrity, metabolic and inflammatory stress responses, stem cell function and differentiation potential, and redox balance.
