This study investigated the association between the ability to maintain prolonged (2-minute) fixation on a visual target and ADHD traits in a sample consisting of 120 monozygotic and 120 dizygotic twin pairs, aged 9 to 14 years. More intrusive saccades during the task was associated with higher level of parent-reported ADHD traits. Both intrusive saccades and ADHD symptoms had high heritability estimates, and there was a moderate genetic correlation between number of intrusive saccades and ADHD. This study suggests that inability to maintain ocular fixation for longer times is etiologically linked to ADHD traits in the general population.

Recursive splice sites are rare motifs postulated to facilitate splicing across massive introns and shape isoform diversity, especially for long, brain-expressed genes. The necessity of this unique mechanism remains unsubstantiated, as does the role of recursive splicing (RS) in human disease. From analyses of rare copy number variants (CNVs) from almost one million individuals, we previously identified large, heterozygous deletions eliminating an RS site (RS1) in the first intron of that conferred substantial risk for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other neurobehavioral traits.

Background: Temperament has been increasingly studied in relation to neurodevelopmental disorders, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study examines the association between ADHD and affective temperament traits using the Temperament Scale of Memphis, Pisa, Paris, and San Diego (TEMPS-A) in a clinical outpatient sample in Beirut, Lebanon.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 2564 psychiatric outpatients aged 15 or older who completed the TEMPS-A.

Altered cortisol regulation is implicated in Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), but causality remains debated. While meta-analyses suggest that lower basal cortisol levels, especially in the morning, correlate with ADHD, study heterogeneity prompts further inquiry. Leveraging post-genome-wide association approaches, we examined morning cortisol levels (n = 25,314) and ADHD (n = 225,543).

Background: Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) such as Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) impact cognitive, behavioral, and social functions. The Zinc finger MYM-type protein 3, located on the X-chromosome, has been implicated in neurodevelopment, but its effects in females remain poorly understood due to limited research.
