Objectives: This study focused on synthesizing and characterizing novel thiosemicarbazide derivatives containing a 1,2,4-triazole moiety and evaluating their antimicrobial activity against several bacterial strains. The research aimed to identify key structural features that enhance antimicrobial efficacy through structure-activity relationship analysis and identify the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the most potent compounds to assess their potential for further development as antimicrobial agents.
Materials And Methods: Nine novel thiosemicarbazide derivatives containing a 1,2,4-triazole moiety were synthesized by reacting 1,2,4-triazole derivatives with thiosemicarbazide precursors, and the products were characterized using infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR), carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (C-NMR) spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.

Background: Pathogenic responses against self and foreign antigens in systemic autoimmunity and infection, respectively, engage similar immunologic components, thus lacking distinguishing diagnostic biomarkers. Herein, we tested whether whole-blood transcriptome analysis discriminates autoimmune from infectious diseases.
Methods: We applied nested cross-validation methodology to tune and validate random forests, k-nearest neighbors, and support vector machines, using a new preprocessing method on 22 publicly available datasets, including 594 patients with a broad spectrum of systemic autoimmune diseases and 615 patients with diverse viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections.

Objective: To evaluate the quality of care provided to patients with febrile neutropenia (FN) hospitalized at the Depart-ment of Infectious Diseases, Military University Hospital Prague, as a foundation for improving the management of this condition.
Material And Methods: A retrospective observational analysis of patients diagnosed with the ICD-10 code D70 from 1 January 2015 to 1 June 2023. All evaluated parameters were selected primarily to facilitate the assessment of care quality and compliance with recommended practices.

This field study evaluates the effectiveness of an optical indicator parameter called Tryptophan-like fluorescence (TLF) combined with other water quality parameters to predict E. coli concentrations. Commercially available multi-parameter sondes measuring TLF were deployed upstream and downstream, of five active combined sewer overflow regulators located within a 1.

Background & Aims: Formylated peptide receptors 1 and 2 (Fpr1/2 or FPRs) are G-protein-coupled pattern recognition receptors that bind bacterial formylated peptides. The role of FPRs in enteric nervous system (ENS) development and gastrointestinal (GI) motility is unknown.
Methods: We generated mice with germline, epithelial-, and neural crest-specific deletion of the Fpr1/2 locus and assessed ENS structure and GI motility.
