Background: Having access to Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) is crucial for avoiding malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), where the disease burden is disproportionately high. Despite their efficacy, socioeconomic, demographic, and geographic factors continue to cause notable differences in ITN access within and between nations. By employing a multilevel analysis of data from 29 Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) throughout SSA, this study seeks to fill knowledge gaps about the factors that influence access at the individual and community levels.

Introduction/aims: There is a lack of up-to-date information on the burden of motor neuron diseases (MNDs) in the United States (US). This study aimed to estimate trends in the prevalence, incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) for MNDs in the US from 1990 to 2021.
Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of MNDs in the US using estimates of prevalence, incidence, and mortality obtained from analyses of the Global Burden of Disease 2021 dataset.

Arenaviruses and Hantaviruses, primarily hosted by rodents and shrews, represent significant public health threats due to their potential for zoonotic spillover into human populations. Despite their global distribution, the full impact of these viruses on human health remains poorly understood, particularly in regions like Africa, where data is sparse. Both virus families continue to emerge, with pathogen evolution and spillover driven by anthropogenic factors such as land use change, climate change, and biodiversity loss.

Introduction: The discrepancies in near-soil-surface hydrologic processes triggered by herbage spatial distribution pattern greatly influence the variation in hillslope erosion process. However, knowledge about the influence of herbage spatial distribution pattern on hillslope erosion is still limited.
Methods: In the current study, runoff plots (length × width × depth, 2 × 1 × 0.

Defining rurality matters in healthcare. Evidence supports the singularity of the rural experience and its detrimental impact on health outcomes and, specifically, on mental health. Yet, no internationally accepted definition of 'rural' exists.
