Article Abstract

The new labdane [(3R*,4aR*,7S*,10aS*,10bR*)-3-ethenyl-3,4a,7,10a-tetramethyl-dodecahydro-1H-naphtho-[2,1-b]-pyran-7-yl]-methylbenzoate together with other 7 labdanes were isolated from the aerial parts of . Compound structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Some compounds showed moderate to weak antimicrobial activity towards a panel of bacterial and fungal pathogens. In addition, -biformene (2) and ribenol acetate (8) showed to be highly cytotoxic with LC50 < 1 µg/mL, the other compounds showed moderate cytotoxic effect with a LC50 range of 6.008-15.26 µg/mL. For all isolated compounds, no inflammatory response was observed.

Diminishing the productivity of Taxol by the potential fungi with storage is the key hurdle that impedes their applications to be an industrial platform for Taxol production. Thus, exploring of a fungal isolate with a reliable robustness for Taxol biosynthesis is the objective of this study. Although, Encephalartos bubalinus has diverse ethnopharmaceutical properties, however, the identity of its endophytic fungi remains poorly explored.

Four previously unreported tigliane diterpenes (1, 2, 4, and 6), along with two known tiglianes (3 and 5), were isolated from the latex of Euphorbia palustris and Euphorbia lucida. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques. Antiviral activity assays for compounds 1‒4 and 6 against HIV-1 and HIV-2 replication were performed on a CD4 T cell line, MT-4 cells.

Stevioside, a natural high-intensity sweetener, is widely employed across the food, pharmaceutical, and daily chemical industries due to its intense sweetness and health benefits. However, traditional extraction and purification processes for steviol glycosides from are plagued by low efficiency, high energy consumption, substantial environmental impact, and inconsistent product quality. This study systematically optimized the extraction, decolorization, decontamination, and desalting processes to overcome these challenges.

Although cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is not a major secondary messenger in the visual transduction cascade in vertebrates, it may modulate photoreceptor functions. The effects of cAMP have been extensively studied in rods; however, its role in cones remains less understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of increased levels of cAMP on the photoresponses of isolated blue- and green-sensitive cones in adult zebrafish ().
