Significant progress has been made in applying deep learning for the automatic diagnosis of skin lesions. However, most models remain unexplainable, which severely hinders their application in clinical settings. Concept-based ante-hoc interpretable models have the potential to clarify the decision-making process of diagnosis by learning high-level, human-understandable concepts, while they can only provide numerical values of conceptual contributions.

The coordination of floral developmental stages with the environment is important for reproductive success and the optimization of crop yields. The timing of different developmental stages contributes to final yield potential with optimal adaptation enabling development to proceed without being impacted by seasonal weather events, including frosts or end of season drought. Here we characterise the role of FLOWERING LOCUS T 3 (FT3) in hexaploid bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) during the early stages of floral development.

Accurately estimating kinetic metrics, such as braking and propulsion forces, in real-world running environments enhances our understanding of performance, fatigue, and injury. Wearable inertial measurement units (IMUs) offer a potential solution to estimate kinetic metrics outside the lab when combined with machine learning. However, current IMU-based kinetic estimation models are trained and evaluated within a single environment, often on lab treadmills.

Flooding significantly threatens global agricultural productivity, especially under the pressures of climate change. To address this urgent environmental challenge, the development of flooding-tolerant crops is imperative. However, our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying flooding tolerance in plants, particularly in crops, remains limited.

Cellular systems responsible for the formation and removal of reactive oxygen species (ROS), functioning within physiological limits, are essential for maintaining intracellular redox balance. This state is known as oxidative eustress. Key redox signaling molecules, such as superoxide anion radical (O) and hydrogen peroxide (HO), operate at nanomolar concentrations and are produced by NADPH oxidases (regulated by various factors), the mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC), and numerous enzymes.
