Five-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA)-photodynamic therapy combined with infrared radiation is an effective and safe therapy for facial acne. Although there are various available agents for treating acne, therapies for resistant or severe strains have been limited. The aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory efficacy of ALACELL synthesized by combining 5-ALA with Y-G-G-F-L peptide against , , , and , as well as . Furthermore, other effects of ALACELL on human skin cells, melanin formation, intracellular tyrosinase activity, and Ultra Violet B (UVB)-irradiated cell death were measured by treatment of ALACELL . ALACELL particularly showed a growth inhibitory effect on C. and no inhibitory effect on the four bacteria strains. ALACELL reduced melanin formation and intracellular tyrosinase activity by α-melanin cell-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) in B16F10 cells, with no cytotoxicity. ALACELL also improved cell viability in UVB-irradiated HaCaT cells. The results of the experiment show that ALACELL exhibits more efficacy than 5-ALA against antimicrobial activity, melanin formation, intracellular tyrosinase activity, and UVB-irradiated cell death. Therefore, ALACELL is recommended as a candidate for clinical application in the treatment of acne and skin aging and will be further investigated to study the mode of action and in actual situations.

Maize anthracnose, caused by the fungal pathogen Colletotrichum graminicola, is among the most devastating diseases affecting maize production. Homeobox transcription factors (HTFs) regulate key developmental and physiological processes in eukaryotes, including fungal pathogenesis. In this study, we identified two HTFs, CgrHtf1 and CgrAfh1, in C.

Through a comprehensive analysis combining network pharmacology prediction and transcriptomics, this study systematically explained the multi-target mechanism of Cyanotis arachnoidea(CA) Gel in improving melasma. A melasma model was induced in female SD rats by progesterone injection combined with ultraviolet B(UVB) irradiation for 40 consecutive days, while the blank control group was only fed routinely. After successful model establishment, the rats were randomly divided into five groups and administered different doses of CA ethanol extract gel(high, medium, and low doses) or arbutin Gel(positive control), which were applied once daily for 28 consecutive days.

Molluscan shell color polymorphism is influenced by a variety of factors, and endocrine pigments secreted by mollusks play a crucial role in determining shell coloration. The hard clam (Meretrix meretrix) exhibits one of the most extensive variations in shell color among molluscan species, and the mechanism underlying its shell pigmentation remains largely unexplored. The stable inheritance of red shell color in a newly identified variant of M.

The combination of melanin-targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) and immunotherapy offers potential in overcoming melanoma resistance to conventional therapies. Studying the potential abscopal effect induced by TRT is essential to evaluate such combination. We develop here a preclinical murine model comprising a target (pigmented) and non-target (non-pigmented) tumour to study the abscopal effect induced by melanin-TRT in melanoma.

Purpose: Retinal Pigment Epithelial (RPE) cells perform critical functions in the visual cycle. Their melanin pigmentation, which is organized into specialized compartments - melanosomes, is highly critical for proper vision. A chemical method to induce pigmentation in a non-pigmented model of ARPE-19 cells was applied using L-DOPA as a repurposed drug from the current treatment of Parkinson's disease.
