High-quality Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) with Nonlinear Dipole Inversion (NDI) is developed with pre-determined regularization while matching the image quality of state-of-the-art reconstruction techniques and avoiding over-smoothing that these techniques often suffer from. NDI is flexible enough to allow for reconstruction from an arbitrary number of head orientations and outperforms COSMOS even when using as few as 1-direction data. This is made possible by a nonlinear forward-model that uses the magnitude as an effective prior, for which we derived a simple gradient descent update rule. We synergistically combine this physics-model with a Variational Network (VN) to leverage the power of deep learning in the VaNDI algorithm. This technique adopts the simple gradient descent rule from NDI and learns the network parameters during training, hence requires no additional parameter tuning. Further, we evaluate NDI at 7 T using highly accelerated Wave-CAIPI acquisitions at 0.5 mm isotropic resolution and demonstrate high-quality QSM from as few as 2-direction data.

We have performed careful measurements of nonlinear transverse conductivity (NLTC) at zero field in the intermetallic compound HoAgGe with two distinct magnetic toroidal (MT) structures. Below 7 K (MT1 phase), the NLTC signal becomes observable and significantly increases with decreasing temperature, whereas between 7 and 11.6 K (MT2 phase), it remains nearly zero.

Observation of the second-harmonic generation (SHG) from subwavelength metallic structures is often hindered by the interrelations of higher-order multipolar contributions. In particular, the magnetic Lorentz contribution to SHG is often neglected due to the ineffective magnetic field enhancement in electrically resonant structures. Here, we demonstrate a strong Lorentz-driven SHG output at the plasmon-induced magnetic dipolar resonance in inversion-symmetry-broken plasmonic nanocavities.

Understanding the electronic structure of polycyclic aromatic compounds is of fundamental importance for their potential applications. The optoelectronic properties of shorter acenes such as tetracene and pentacene have been extensively studied with regard to excitation, emission, and nonlinear effects such as singlet fission. The longer homologues present a unique challenge due to their low stability both in the solid state and in solution.

This presented study depicts the synthesis of three novel carbazole-thiazole conjugates, thoroughly investigating their spectroscopic properties as well as evaluating their biological activity as tyrosinase inhibitors. Additionally, we investigated the possibility of using Concanavalin A (ConA) complexes with dyes from a theoretical point of view, developing a promising protein-based strategy of delivery of dyes to the target cells. The tyrosinase inhibition assay showed that compounds and demonstrated higher activity than the kojic acid with IC values of 46 and 59 mM, respectively.
