Article Abstract

Applications of randomness such as private key generation and public randomness beacons require small blocks of certified random bits on demand. Device-independent quantum random number generators can produce such random bits, but existing quantum-proof protocols and loophole-free implementations suffer from high latency, requiring many hours to produce any random bits. We demonstrate device-independent quantum randomness generation from a loophole-free Bell test with a more efficient quantum-proof protocol, obtaining multiple blocks of 512 random bits with an average experiment time of less than 5 min per block and with a certified error bounded by 2^{-64}≈5.42×10^{-20}.

Innovative technology allows for personalization of stimulation frequency in dual-site deep brain stimulation (DBS), offering promise for challenging symptoms in advanced Parkinson's disease (PD), particularly freezing of gait (FoG). Early results suggest that combining standard subthalamic nucleus (STN) stimulation with substantia nigra pars reticulata (SNr) stimulation may improve FoG outcomes. However, patient response and the optimal SNr stimulation frequency vary.

Adaptive Feedback Compensation Algorithm for Quantum Random Number Generators.

Entropy (Basel)

August 2025

National Quantum Communication (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., Guangzhou 510700, China.

As a core component in quantum cryptography, Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNGs) face dual critical challenges: insufficient randomness enhancement and limited compatibility with post-processing algorithms. This study proposes an Adaptive Feedback Compensation Algorithm (AFCA) to address these limitations through dynamic parameter feedback and selective encryption strategies. The AFCA dynamically adjusts nonlinear transformation intensity based on real-time statistical deviations, retaining over 50% of original bits while correcting local imbalances.

Machine Learning-Assisted Secure Random Communication System.

Machine learning techniques have revolutionized physical layer security (PLS) and provided opportunities for optimizing the performance and security of modern communication systems. In this study, we propose the first machine learning-assisted random communication system (ML-RCS). It comprises a pretrained decision tree (DT)-based receiver that extracts binary information from the transmitted random noise carrier signals.

Writing magnetic bits through spin-orbit torque (SOT) switching is promising for fast and efficient magnetic random-access memory devices. While SOT switching of out-of-plane (OOP) magnetized states requires lateral symmetry breaking, in-plane (IP) magnetized states suffer from low storage density. Here, we demonstrate a field-free switching scheme using a 5-nanometer europium iron garnet film grown with a (110) orientation that shows a spin reorientation transition from OOP to IP above room temperature.

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) provides a new high-dimensional degree-of-freedom for lasers enabling high-dimensional shift keying, thus showing huge potential in free-space optical data-transmissions. Ensuring the accuracy of data transmission is of concern in any communication system. However, in the free-space OAM shift keying link, interferences from environmental occlusions will broaden the OAM spectrum and thus affect the correctness of information received.
