Immune response pattern between host and () is considered as a crucial point in development of alveolar echinococcosis (AE). In this study, we are aiming to study the expression patterns of TLR2 and TLR4 with related cytokines and transcription factors in secondary infected murine model. The murine model of AE was developed by using intraperitoneal inoculation of protoscolexes and albendazole (+ABZ group) or carboxy methyle cellulose (CMC; +CMC group) administration via gastric tube was initiated in the third month and continued for one month. Mice with CMC administration served as negative controls (C+CMC group). The splenic cells and peritoneal exudates cells (PECs) were prepared and the levels of IFN-γ, IL-10, and IL-5 in splenic cells and PECs culture supernatants were detected using enzyme linked immune-sorbent assay (ELISA). Besides, the mRNA expression levels of TLR2, 4, transcription factors and cytokines were detected by using real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The concentration levels of IFN-γ, IL-10, and IL-5 in PECs and splenic cell supernatants were extremely lower, however, significantly elevated after stimulated with Concanavalin A (ConA) for 36 h with higher concentrations in +CMC group comparing to both +ABZ and C+CMC group. The mRNA levels of TLR2, 4 and GATA3, IFN-γ, IL-10 in splenic cells were significantly increased in +CMC group comparing with other groups. Simultaneously, T-bet mRNA expressions were elevated in +ABZ and C+CMC group compared to +CMC group. In addition, T-bet/GATA3 ratios was higher in +ABZ group compared to +CMC group and were higher in C+CMC group than those in +CMC group. TLR2 mRNA expression in splenic cells showed a positive correlation with IL-10 concentration levels in splenic cell culture supernatants. The present study provides evidence on the possible role of TLR2 in the process of immune tolerance during infection and suggests albendazole treatment might reverse the immune tolerance situation and improve parasite clearance process.

This study investigates a multifunctional hydrogel system integrating carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) in a 3D-printed limonene (LIM) scaffold coated with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS). The system allows to enhance wound healing, prevent infections, and monitor the healing progress. CMC is crosslinked with citric acid (CA) to form the hydrogel matrix (CMC-CA), while the 3D-printed limonene (LIM) scaffold is embedded within the hydrogel to provide mechanical support.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) has recently become a serious cause for global concern because of non-susceptibility to multiple antimicrobial classes, its prevalence in nosocomial infections, and the lack of effective treatments against such a pathogen.
Methods: This study isolated two lytic phages from hospital sewage, purified, propagated, characterized morphologically by transmission electron microscopy, and genomically by Oxford Nanopore Sequencing. The phage lysates were then formulated individually as carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) 5 % w/v hydrogels.

Hypothesis: The surface free energy (γ) and solubility (δ) parameters are two important characteristic parameters describing physicochemical properties of substances, but knowledge about the characteristic parameters (γ and δ) of surfactants is still lacking. Possible relationships of the characteristic parameters of surfactants with their head group types and alkyl chain lengths as well as with the surface tension (σ) of their aqueous solutions are worth exploring.
Methods: Solid surfactants including 10 anionic and 14 cationic ones were chosen.

Introduction: Formal medical toxicology training is limited in many resource-constrained regions, including India, where poisonings and envenomations are highly prevalent. There is an urgent need for accessible toxicology education for healthcare providers in these settings. This study evaluates a novel augmented reality-based observed simulation model to remotely teach medical toxicology concepts to physicians-in-training in India.
