Background: Periampullary diverticulum (PAD) is a common acquired extraluminal outpouching of duodenal mucosa and is often clinically overlooked. When complicated by biliary-pancreatic stones or inflammation, PAD may lead to severe biliary-pancreatic complications. Although endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is currently regarded as the gold standard for PAD diagnosis, its invasive nature and other limitations have led to computed tomography (CT) being increasingly preferred as the first-line imaging modality.

Background: We aimed to determine the performance of postoperative computed tomography (CT) and upper gastrointestinal series (UGI) in patients who underwent surgery for a perforated peptic ulcer and to assess the yield of routine postoperative studies.
Methods: Retrospective, single-institution, chart-review study of patients who underwent a repair of a perforated gastric or duodenal ulcer between August 2004 and September 2021 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.
Results: We identified a total of 240 patients, 28 (12%) were found to have leaks.

Pediatric upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding secondary to duodenal ulceration is a potentially serious and life-threatening condition with a broad differential diagnosis. We present a pediatric case of a pancreatic head solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) presenting with duodenal ulceration and recurrent upper GI bleeding. This case highlights pancreatic SPNs as a rare extrinsic cause of duodenal ulceration.
