Explicit references to a distinct field or discipline of risk appeared about 40-50 years ago, but it is only recently that the term "risk science" has been commonly used. To many scholars working with practical risk and safety issues, the risk field has been considered a rather narrow field and school of thought, mainly focusing on risk assessments and numbers. The scope of contemporary risk science is, however, wide, covering knowledge on all aspects of risk, including assessment, perception, communication, and management of risk.

McDonald and colleagues' paper on "Achieving Diagnostic Excellence: Roadmaps to Develop and Use Patient-Reported Measures With an Equity Lens" describes seven goals for using patient-reported measures (PRMs) to promote diagnostic excellence and describes roadmaps to plan the development and implementation of PRMs. Incorporating more patient voices into diagnostic measurement and measure development can improve the patient-centricity of processes and outcomes. Additionally, organizations beginning their measure development journeys may find road-mapping tools helpful, especially the focus on setting goals and engaging stakeholders.

Seasonal migration is a vital behavior for numerous animal species, offering ecological services such as seed dispersal, pollination, and resource influxes. However, accurately describing and predicting the spatial dynamics of migrating populations remains a challenge due to the scale of the behavior and the different navigation strategies employed by the animals to complete it. The goal of this study is two-fold: (1) to develop an agent-based model (ABM) to simulate the final spatial distributions of migratory animals using two navigation strategies-true navigation and vector navigation-and (2) to use a case study of migratory monarch butterflies to determine the value of comparing model-generated spatial patterns with empirical observations.
