Low-grade non-muscle invasive bladder cancer is a specific category of bladder cancer with a favourable prognosis; however, its management presents several challenges. The risk of stage progression is very low, but approximately half of patients will experience recurrence within the first 5 years after diagnosis. This high propensity for recurrence, coupled with the threat of progression, mandates ongoing surveillance.

Early career researchers (ECRs) are often faced with uncertainty about their professional futures, a challenge exacerbated by the increasing pressures within the academic research landscape. As ECRs navigate their next steps in science, mentorship is crucial, particularly as they face points of decision-making and possible career diversions from the traditional postdoctoral-to-professor pathway. In response to these challenges, the second iteration of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Immunology (ASI) Mentor-Mentee Program aimed to provide mentorship and training to ECRs about academic career pathways in research and education to bridge the professional communities, values and advice of these two often independent career choices.

The | Ililiwaskiy (Moose Cree First Nation Territory) in the James Bay region of Ontario, Canada, and like many Indigenous communities across the globe has experienced decades of industrial activity impacting its ecosystems. Community concerns regarding mercury levels in culturally significant fish species led to an interdisciplinary research initiative. This study combined scientific analysis and community knowledge to assess mercury concentrations in three traditionally consumed fish species-walleye (Sander vitreus), northern pike (Esox lucius), and lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens).

Delivering the script: The educational activities of medical device industry representatives as a knowledge management strategy.

Representatives of the medical device industry are routinely present in hospitals to provide education and support related to their products which, collectively, represent a company's knowledge management strategy. Between 2021 and 2022, I undertook an interpretive, phenomenological qualitative study at a large, urban, academic medical centre in Canada to examine industry's role in practice-based education. I conducted interviews (n = 23) and focus groups (N = 2) with 36 participants working across departments in roles spanning the point-of-care to executive leadership.
