A new member of , named torque teno mini virus (TTMV)-SH, was recently identified in the serum of three Hodgkin's lymphoma patients suggesting that TTMV-SH may be associated with this type of hematological malignancy. We investigated by metagenomic analysis the presence of TTMV-SH-related viruses in plasma samples ( = 323) collected from patients with various hematological malignancies (multiple myeloma (MM, = 256), non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL, = 20), acute myeloid leukemia ( = 10)) and from healthy donors ( = 37). TTMV-SH-related strains were identified in 24 samples corresponding to four MM and one NHL patients. Phylogenic analysis revealed that the 24 isolates were close to the TTMV-SH strains previously identified, sharing 79.6-86.7% ORF1 nucleotide sequence identity. These results suggest that TTMV-SH-related viruses might be found in hematological diseases other than Hodgkin's lymphoma. Due to the high genetic variability within species, the association between a particular medical condition and a new genotype should be interpreted with caution.

Although Torque Teno Viruses (TTVs) were initially considered to be ubiquitous members of the mammalian virome, the finding that swine TTVs (TTSuV) can act as primary pathogens elevates the possible status of swine TTVs (TTSuVs) to an emerging swine pathogen. Since their discovery, the molecular mechanisms of TTV-host interactions remain largely unknown as robust in vitro culture systems and in vivo animal models have not been available. This study was undertaken to address some of these long-standing gaps.

Mosquito blood meals provide a biological sample of host blood which can then be used in downstream applications including host-pathogen detection. We conducted DNA barcoding to identify the host species of blood meals from 4557 blood engorged mosquitoes collected in south central Florida, USA. We identified 314 blood meals from invasive wild pigs, 219 wild turkey blood meals, and 1046 white-tailed deer blood meals.

Integration of torque teno mini virus (TTMV) generating the TTMV::RARA fusion represents a newly recognized subtype of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) that merits detailed investigation. We present the first comprehensive characterization of its epidemiologic profile, clinical presentation, virologic characteristics, and underlying molecular mechanisms. Our findings indicate that TTMV::RARA is more prevalent in pediatric patients and represents the second most common retinoic acid receptor fusion after PML::RARA.
