Article Abstract

We introduce and verify a single-channel time-division filtering low-light-level (LLL) color night vision system (3LCNV). The imaging scheme, comprising a tunable liquid crystal filter, three-generation GaAsP image intensifier, and CMOS camera, achieves LLL color imaging and ensures sensitivity. The image enhancement and color reconstruction algorithm flow suitable for LLL night vision combines overexposure-against white balance, color correction matrix (CCM) color correction, and color image denoising to improve color visibility and reduce color difference and image noise. The proposed night vision system extends the minimum working illuminance to 10   and achieves natural and clear color LLL imaging, improving night-time observations.

Purpose: To analyze the difference in objective and subjective photic phenomena following virtual implantation of three different presbyopia-correcting diffractive intraocular lens (IOL) designs.

Methods: The study was conducted at JENVIS Research Germany. A prospective cross-over and double-masked trial design was used.

Infrared night vision images are caused by color overflow and coloring discontinuity due to insufficient light at night, resulting in larger halo area and lower PSNR value after enhancement by single feature fusion method. For this reason, an infrared night vision image enhancement algorithm based on cross-level feature fusion is proposed. This method is used to denoise infrared night vision images, based on smooth wavelet decomposition.

Temporal Sensitivity Under Photopic and Scotopic Conditions Across the Cortical Visual Hierarchy.

fMRI unit, Department of Neurology, Hadassah Medical Organization and Faculty of Medicine, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ein Karem, Jerusalem, Israel.

Purpose: Behavioral and electrophysiological studies have shown that vision is slower under scotopic conditions (dark, activating only rods) than photopic conditions (light, activating only cones). However, slower scotopic processing cannot be solely explained by findings that rod signals are slower than cone signals, and it is unknown whether temporal processing differences persist in cortex. Flickering stimuli have previously been used in functional MRI (fMRI) studies to probe photopic cortical temporal sensitivity.

Background: Continuous bright light (CBL) and dim light (DL) exposure in premature babies may adversely affect their physiological and vision development and interfere with parental sleep and quality of life.

Purpose: This systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to investigate the effects of day/night cycled light (CL) exposure on weight gain and length of hospital stay (LOS) in premature infants.

Methods: MEDLINE, PsycINFO, PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane, Airiti Library, and Google Scholar were searched using appropriate keywords for relevant English or Chinese articles published before April 7, 2023.

Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a group of inherited retinal dystrophies characterized by progressive degeneration of the retina, leading to vision impairment. This report presents the case of a 56-year-old female patient with advanced RP caused by a homozygous genetic alteration affecting the RBP3 gene, specifically the c.802 A>T (p.
