Article Abstract

Although photoacoustic imaging (PAI) in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) region (1.0-1.7 μm) is admired for deeper penetration and higher contrast, few organic NIR-II absorbers are available as exogenous contrast agents in vivo. A1094 belongs to the very few ∼1.1 μm absorbing croconaine dyes that have superior extinction coefficient and tend to form irregular aggregation. In this study, shape-controlled A1094@DSPE-PEG micelles with a J-aggregate core with remarkable 1.2-1.3 μm absorption are fabricated as biocompatible organic agents. Excellent capabilities in photothermal conversion, photostability, and PAI are found in in vitro studies. In vivo PAI of inguinal lymph nodes and in situ glioma pre- and post-resection, all demonstrate high lymph/tumor-targeting efficiency. An ∼4.54 mm deep brain lesion is imaged at 1200 nm with minimized background and increased contrast compared to 970 nm. Overall, we achieved significant bathochromic shift of organic absorbers and expanded their PAI application to the long-wavelength end of the NIR-IIa region.

Background: Early menarche is associated with lifelong health implications, including heightened risks for obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2D), cardiovascular disease, and overall mortality. This study explored the associations that link early menarche, major adiposity indices, and T2D in a group of multi-ethnic Asian women.

Methods: A prospective, hospital-based study was conducted in Singapore.

Background: Puberty, particularly menarche, involves hormonal changes that may influence depressive symptoms. However, research on the association between age at menarche (AAM) and depression yields contradictory results, possibly due to sample differences and differences in socioeconomic status, parenting style, and cultural factors within each studied population. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the association between AAM and depression in a large cohort of the Northern Iranian population.

Background: The relationship between age at menarche and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease remains largely not clear. The objective of this study was to examine the association between age at menarche (AAM) and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in Chinese women and whether any observed associations were mediated by early adulthood adiposity.

Methods: The cross-sectional study included 46,873 Chinese women, aged 30-79 from baseline data of the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort study.

Objective: Menarche is the endpoint of a sequence of maturational events of female puberty. The timing of menarche is a strongly heritable trait. However, secular trends suggest that lifestyle and environmental factors are important.

Background: Age at menarche (AAM) directly affects female estrogen levels, which play a vital role in bone metabolism. The exact relationship between bone mineral density (BMD) and AAM remains controversial. Thus, this study aimed to determine the association between AAM and lumbar spine (LS) BMD in postmenopausal women.
