Introduction: To evaluate the characteristics of patients who have undergone surgical operations due to brain abscess and to assess the risk factors for mortality and the outcomes.
Methodology: Patients who have undergone surgical operations due to brain abscess between January 2014 and January 2024 in our hospital were evaluated retrospectively. Patients were divided into 2 groups to determine poor outcome predictive factors.

The study addresses the critical issue of sepsis diagnosis, a life-threatening condition triggered by the body's immune response to infection that leads to mortality. Current diagnostic methods rely on the time-consuming assessment of multiple biomarkers by a series of tests, leading to delayed treatment. Here, we report a platform for developing a point-of-care (POC) device utilizing electrochemical immunosensors for the dual and rapid detection of sepsis biomarkers: Procalcitonin (PCT), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), and C-reactive protein (CRP) as host markers and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) as a pathogen marker.

Despite the decreased viral transmissibility and pathogenicity observed in the post-pandemic era, identifying early clinical indicators for severe pediatric COVID-19 remains crucial.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an increasing cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and acute exacerbations are the major health issues in COPD patients. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of the delta neutrophil index (DNI) with other hematologic parameters in managing and guiding COPD patients admitted with acute exacerbations. In this retrospective study, COPD patients treated internally in pulmonology clinic, intensive care unit, and anesthesiology and reanimation unit with acute exacerbation between May 2021 and December 2023 were investigated.

Background: Early-onset neonatal sepsis (EOS) is a critical condition primarily caused by maternal-fetal transmission of bacterial pathogens during delivery, with Escherichia coli and Group B Streptococcus being the most prevalent. However, neonatal sepsis can also involve other rare bacteria, including Corynebacterium amycolatum, which was first described in 1988 and is widely recognized as an emerging pathogen in infectious diseases.
Case Presentation: A male infant was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) due to premature birth and tachypnea.
