An effective strategy for regioselective modification and directional assembly of anisotropic nanoparticles is demonstrated to explore the electric field enhancement in assembled gold nanobipyramids compared with gold nanorods. The well-defined secondary plasmonic hot spots between the coupled gold nanobipyramids exhibit the capability for single molecule detection.

In this study, we investigate near-field photopolymerization at the tips of gold nanobipyramids (AuNBPs) under linearly polarized irradiation conditions with femtosecond pulses in the near infrared region. TEM was used to visualize the localisation and spatial extend of the polymer resulting from the near-field photopolymerization. The single-tilt mode in TEM provides 3D information of the position of the nanoparticle on the substrate and the polymer lobes.

Pigments in painted cultural relics serve as critical historical evidence, offering significant research value for understanding historical contexts and cultural development processes. However, the pigments, especially organic pigments (or dyes), have progressively degraded over time, resulting in severe fading that challenges their sensitive identification. To address this issue, we developed an innovative sampling methodology combined with surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) analysis for identifying indigo pigment in painted cultural relics.

Efficient signal response and antibody coupling efficiency performance are valid strategies to enhance analytical performance while reducing antibody consumption. Herein, the CuO shell is used to gather gold nanoparticles around the plasmonic gold nanobipyramid (ACANPs) to form "plasmonic aggregates" to enhance the dual-responsive lateral flow immunoassay for detecting Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium).

The detection of limonin, a bitter compound in citrus samples, is crucial for maintaining product quality, safety, and marketability and ultimately benefits both producers and consumers. In this assay to effectively modify the monoclonal antibody on gold nanobipyramids (AuNBPs), we replaced the original hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide coating (CTAB) with SH-PEG2000-NHS. Then AuNBPs were modified with a limonin-specific monoclonal antibody (mAb) to create an AuNBP@mAb immunoprobe.
