Article Abstract
Introduction: The involvement of mucin, lectin, and apoptosis in colitis is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate changes in MUC2 expression, inflammation, and changes in lectin expression in colitis patients.
Methods: A total of 17 patients were divided into two groups including 11 hemorrhoid patients as a control group and 6 colitis patients. MUC2 mutation analysis was carried out using immunofluorescent and FISH techniques. Assessment of caspase-3, Ki-67, NF-kB, and lectin expressions was also carried out by immunofluorescent technique then analyzed by confocal laser scanning microscope.
Results: The MUC2, caspase-3, and lectin expressions were significantly lower in the colitis group than in the control group (p < 0.05).
Conclusions: It was concluded that in colitis there was a change in MUC2 expression due to changes in lectins accompanied by apoptotic defects.conclusion.

Background And Aims: This study aimed to describe Crohn's disease perianal fistulizing lesions in patients undergoing surgery over 60 years to compare clinical presentation, management and outcomes with those observed in younger patients.
Methods: Between January 2012 and December 2022, all patients over 60 years old who underwent a first surgical intervention for anal fistula at two medical centers were included. For each patient included, two younger patients who underwent the same surgical procedure during the same period in the same centers were matched for comparison.
Overcoming anti-Infliximab antibodies and maintaining Infliximab achieves superior durability and outcome compared to switching to Adalimumab.

Immune-related adverse events (irAE) are treatment-associated complications that single or multiple systems could be involved after immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICI), ranging from mild to life-threatening diseases, with significant heterogeneity. This is an important factor which might affect continuous ICI treatment. Patients who have experienced mild to moderate irAE could try ICI rechallenge after they recovered from irAE.

Background: Delirium in patients with ulcerative colitis may be seen, especially in the elderly and in patients hospitalized for a long time. In children, Wernicke's encephalopathy may occur due to thiamine deficiency in both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. We present a patient with ulcerative colitis who presented with delirium as the first symptom, did not respond to steroid treatment and improved with anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha treatment.
